Posted: 3/21/08 at 2:01pmThey did a staged reading of the play over the summer at the American Airlines, pre-Huntington. Since then, I've been looking forward to the New York transfer.

I can think of at least 5 musicals Roundabout has been rumored or announced they are working on.
Dancin', really, is there need for this?

I am very happy about this new season.
A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS, PAL JOEY, and DANCIN'. What joy.

Posted: 3/21/08 at 2:40pmDancin' sounds pretty good to me. Admittedly, I'm not extremely familiar with what's actually within the show, but the concept sounds good to me. It's just one large dance revue, a bit like Fosse, right? Or is it just dance with no singing? (excuse me being too lazy to check wikipedia as I write this. :P) I'd really love to see that.

Why bother reviving A MAN FOR ALL SEASONS? Is Sam Waterston going to play More?

I have a feeling that the Revival of STREAMERS might move to American Airlines later after A Man for All Season...It had great reviews while in Boston's Huntington Theater.
Scott Ellis did a fabulous job on the Revival. My only concern is its just another war drama play and look what happen to Journey's End (financially) Roundabout must be testing the water on how this revival will do?

Posted: 3/21/08 at 3:32pmWasn't there talk a few months ago about Cabaret coming back? I remember someone from roundabout stating that it really was the only thing that really worked at Studio 54. It would be interesting to see if that appears.

I hope that after the fothcoming reading, Roundabout takes on the producing duties of mounting SIDE SHOW 'cause ... that would make me EXTREMELY hap-hap-happy.

BIRDIE's not happening next season.
Look for '09-'10. That's just an assumption.

I think the DANCIN revival is an interesting, yet entirely appropriate choice for Roundabout.
For Roundabout's non-profie status, they should be producing shows with a draw large enough to warrant a revival, but not enough of a mass-appeal to sustain a commerical run. And their mission is to revive "classics". Though DANCIN is an unconventional musical, it certainly is a classic in its genre of dance-theatre, much the way CONTACT may be considered one in 20 years. That said, my first thought when DANCIN was announced as a commercial venture was, "How the hell will THAT make its money back?!" So, to me, this seems completely valid.
PAL JOEY, especially with a rumoured Stockard Channing? Now, someone is going to have to explain to me how that couldn't have mass appeal... and get me started on Bye Bye Birdie.

Posted: 3/21/08 at 3:53pmI think we'll see Birdie before we see Side Show. Birdie has been talked about for over a year. The side show story is only a few weeks old.

That holds more truth than I care to admit.
Heck, we could very well see both in the same season. That would be pretty damn special, too!
