Because do you really have anything BETTER to do for the next hour and a half?
On October 22, 1955, CBS broadcast this episode of the weekly "Ford Star Jubilee" show featuring Mary Martin and Noel Coward and entitled "Together With Music." This is early television at its best, but this is a kinescope, meaning a camera was set up in front of a TV screen--the quality is just that. The production features the original Ford commercials, and a few of-the-period racial references.
But Mary Martin sings "Wonderful Guy" and a cleaned-up-for-television "My Heart Belongs to Daddy"and Noel sings "Senorita Nina," "Ad Dogs and Englishmen" and "Uncle Harry's Not a Missionary Now!"
And watching him honor her with "Deep in the Heart of Texas" is priceless, and when they interact, it's magic.
Unfortunately the sound cuts out for Mary Martin's first two songs: "I Only Have Eyes for You" and "I Get a Kick Out of You." Here they are:
