Okay- I saw the show on Wednesday, and thought it was absolutely phenomenal! Here's my review- I went in with an open mind, because I've only heard 4 of the songs before, and a lot of the songs and story were new to me.
"May We Entertain You"- it couldn't be any cuter. And when Bernadette came down the aisle and screamed her line, everyone felt the electricity, and there was thunderous applause. The rest of the scene was great. I could tell Bernadette was going to be amazing.
The next scene at the house was great. I REALLY felt for Baby Louise when Rose said "You know how high-strung June is after a performance", and than she said "You did a good job tonight, Louise. I was proud of you", and Louise ran to hug her, the girl was so happy, and it was touching, like it was SO rare that she got any attention from her mother. Bernadette's "Some People" floored me. She is in amazing shape, and she blew everyone away. I was really impressed. As far as her walking around, I thought it was fine.
And the next scene where Rose met Herbie was funny, when she was flirty with him to get him to convince the Producer. Their duet was funny. I liked it. "Baby June and Her News Boys" was adorable. I loved that, and I liked when they transformed into their older versions. The strobe light effect was great. And in Louise's brithday scene, I immediately fell in love with her. I felt so bad when she was trying to wake everyone up. And she was so sincerely grateful when she got the lamb. Tammy Blanchard is some actress- Wow. And when Rose began to sang "Mr. Goldstone, I Love You", I was cracking up- the staging was too funny. And when Louise was by herself in her room singing to her lamb, I was touched, and the "I Wonder How Old I am" line was FUNNY as hell! And the scene in the Chinese Restaurant was hysterical, when Rose was stealing the silverware, and her chemistry with Herbie was perfect, and their duet was nice.
Dainty June's Farm scene was great with the cow and all. That was really funny. And "If Momma Was Married" in the office was really great. I saw Kate Reinders understaudy, Jenna Gavigan, and Tammy and her has great chemistry and blended perfectly. And the guy who played Tulsa was great, and I loved the scene with him and Louise- "All I Need is The Girl" I just love Tammy Blanchard! And "Everything's Coming Up Roses" was great. I could tell a tiny bit that Bernadette was tired- granted, it was the end of the act. But her vocals were great anyhow, and her reaction to June's letter was perfect. And I loved seeing how driven she truly was when she began her song to Louise.
INTERMISSION
The next act was great. "Together" was so CUTE! The dance between the 3 of them was too much. That was one of the highlights of the show. Then was the strip club scene, with the three strippers and "You Gotta Get A Gimmick"- now, I thought they were a complete riot, but I didn;t really think they were THAT funny. I laughed more at other points in the show. And when Herbie left Rose, although I don't remember- the dialogue about how she's used to people walking out was well delivered. And finally, my favorite scene- "Let Me Entertain You". Oh My Gosh! Tammy couldn't have been more perfect. Seeing her evolve in all those different settings was absolutely fantastic. She has grown so much, and I loved the scene. And her final stripper scene was amazingly staged, and I loved the giant boa, and Tammy is GORGEOUS!
And finally Rose's Turn- here's a funny thing. Bernadette was in better vocal condition then she was at the Tonys, but I liked her performance at the Tonys more because of the hoarseness in her voice. So that hoarse sound adds a hell of a lot to the song. So, all together, the show was amazing, I plan on seeing it again, and the highlight of the show for me was Bernadette and of course, my beloved Tammy. There's my review!

thanks sooo much for sharing, you made me even more excited about this production.

I hope everyone with any interest in theater would not miss any major production of a masterpiece such as GYPSY, especially when it stars Bernadette Peters and features Tammy Blanchard.

i can't imagine any show that is more of a "must see" than a Broadway revival of GYPSY.
