Donnie & Marie think people will pay $136.50 to see them?

Posted: 10/28/10 at 4:54pmI am sure there are plenty of folks that are going to pay that. I am not saying that I will...I am not sure that even a comp would get my butt into a seat at the Marquis for this. They have their appeal...and tourists will eat it up. At least, those are my thoughts on the matter.

Posted: 10/28/10 at 6:18pmI warrant it won't pull an audience from "broadway" but they will make money. Possibly lots of it.

Posted: 10/28/10 at 6:31pmThe fact that this is a very limited run, and it is the holidays, that price does not surprise me at all. And yes, I believe there is an audience for them. There are people out there who love them. I mean, Marie made it to the finals of Dancing With the Stars and she was so awful.

Posted: 10/28/10 at 6:58pmI think you underestimate the huge audience who were teens when the Donny and Marie show was on TV an are now 30+ years older and can afford an occasional indulgence. And they WILL afford it because of the nostalgic value. These are less likely to be the same people who attend standard Broadway fare...if such a thing still exists.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!

Actually Marie just turned 51 and Donny will be 53 in December.

"I believe they meant the fans are now 40+"
Huh? I realize the original mention was that the FANS are now 30 plus years older than they were when they saw the TV show -- which is very true, but how could people be 40 plus years older than they were in 1976? That makes no sense. Nor if suggesting that the D&M fans are now 40 plus years old does it make a lot of sense to suggest that in 1976 the show was being watched by 6 to 8 year old fans. I assumed dramamama was talking about Donnie and Marie being 40 plus. No? Never mind.

Posted: 10/29/10 at 11:40pmOops. I believe that frontrowcentre was saying that their fans are now 30+ years older than they were when Donnie and Marie were big. Then I took dramamama's post to be that their fans were actually 40+ years old. So I guess I thought dramamama misinterpreted frc's post. Apologies.

Posted: 10/30/10 at 6:42amYes, just to clarify my thinking was someone who was a fan of D&M in 1977 (when their TV variety show was on the air) they would be 33 years older now. (16 + 33 = 49)
