Good morning! I need some speculative advice, please, hopefully from those with actual knowledge of similar situations!
I know that "August: Osage County" has been available on TKTS recently. However, my trip to NYC is the weekend of June 20, less than one week after the Tony Awards. Will post-Tony ticket sales increase enough that it won't be available on TKTS that weekend?
Any educated thoughts?!?
I highly doubt it'll instantly start selling out when it wins, considering the business it's doing now. My expectation is it'll still be up on TKTS, although i guess it wouldn't be impossible to get enough of a jump that they don't need to use TKTS.
I would say yes to the fact that it might not be on TKTS. But, keep in mind that it is a play not a musical and the Tony winners for things like best musical are almost always hot tickets after the awards.
It is hard to tell for this particular play because it is one of the very few plays on Broadway that has attracted a tourist audience and a re pete audience.
I think now that the show has transferred to the much smaller Music Box, it's pretty likely that the weekend after the Tonys the show could start selling out the space.
If you were going to be here on a weeknight, I might think otherwise, but the first weekend following the Tonys will probably show a pretty big jump in attendance, given that the show is likely going to take the majority of the Play awards.
Those are my thoughts WBaF. I don't want to miss it, so I think I may buy ahead of time.
There are discounts online. Theatermania has discounts up until September. You might want to grab a discount ticket now to insure you see it. And it is well worth it. A great play! Enjoy!
Thanks uncageg. I was just looking for discounts, so thanks for the tip!
Most welcome!
