When replying to posts in long threads, could we agree to change the subject line if the topic has changed? And if it hasn't, how about cutting out some of those re:re:re:'s?

Not trying to be a board police at all, lord knows I have no power. Just a lot of experience on message boards. :)

we can change the subject line, but the change only shows up IN the thread, not on the main board page.

In the Classic view, the titles of the different replies are displayed under the main message.

In the Modern view, you can only see the changed subject lines once you open the main post. But at least you could tell where the topic strayed and find the messages that you really want to read.

I just don't have time to read everything, and I have to choose somehow :)

Sunfish means to do as I have done at the top of this post. Notice that I changed the subject--otherwise it would have been listed as Re: Re: A suggestion. I've been trying to do that as I post because it drives me nuts to see:
