Too sleepy to post a review but it was great seeing him after such a long absence. A few photos on my blog...

Thanks, feathah. I'll hitch my review from the Adam thread onto your post -
Woot! What a night! The screams are still ringing in my ears. (It was exciting, but I wish some of the screamers hadn't been right behind me.) There were only a handful of empty seats left, if any. The 500-seat theater was pretty packed. Whereas the Metropolitan show was cozy, mellow and funny, the Queens Theater seems like the perfect venue for Adam's performance, allowing him a large stage to prowl around on and the kind of space his voice is best suited for. This show was electrifying.
And - Adam sang a brand new song. Siamese dream had found mention of him doing a new song last night in Bay Shore, but since there's always a chance for a misunderstanding with this type of thing, we waited to hear if he'd do it tonight. He did, and it's a knockout, very dramatic and somewhat dissonant musically, which I liked very much. It's called "The World Cannot Wait." Unfortunately I don't have a strong sense of the lyrics, as Adam's singing of the verses was very quiet, but it seemed to be a love song. It's one I'm certainly looking forward to hearing again.
Here's some more good news. Adam mentioned that this part of the tour was ending, but that he'd be back. Larry apparently told someone later that they would be back in NYC next April.
It was a great show. His new material with Larry Edoff is amazing. His music has matured, for lack of a better word, and it only continues to get better. I, like many others, am looking forward to a new CD.

It truly was an amazing night! I don't have too much to say considering everything I wrote after last Sunday's show, but tonight was every bit as amazing as Sunday night.
I'll save the "trying to find Adam after the show" saga for the off-topic board, but I can say that I spoke to Larry (and his beautiful wife) once again and they are really lovely people. When I thanked him for playing a brand new song at the show (I asked him Sunday to play a "new new song, not a bootlegged in LA song"), he said "that was you?" and then thanked me for the "inspiration." It's kind of cool to know that I had some sort of an influence on changing up the usual setlist a bit!
oh, I am still in heaven. What an amazing concert. I;m ion cloude nine!! I have heard Adam sing Glory live. I am very very happy. I don't even know what else to add except I cant wait for his next show! (hopefully January??) We got to the theatre LATE (*ahem* wickedrentq lol =)) so im sorry I didnt get to meet any of you gals...maybe next time!!!
That's great, Lexi! You really made a difference.
Alex, sorry we missed you. At least you got there!
Oh, God, he was so, so so so good tonight. I think he sounded a little better on Sunday night, but he's still in fine voice. He's just... breathtaking. I love the new songs, especially the one that just made it into the set last night! I can't wait for the next CD.
Not seeing him after the show was a bummer; I wanted to wish him luck with everything, but it's okay.
PS, to the girls sitting second row center, thank you for blowing out my eardrums with your shrieking. You're lucky I'm too timid to have spoken my mind at the gig.
Double PS for Adam if he decides to pop in. Thanks for bringing a lot of joy to my week; it's always a pleasure to see you perform. I wish you all the luck in the world, and I can't wait to see you on stage again, whenever that may be.
So I was at the show tonight and it had been awhile since I had seen an Adam concert. It was wonderful. It seems that he has grown in his vocals, and it was such an enjoyable performance. His new stuff sounds great and I will definitely be looking out for. He also seemed to be in such great spirits and looked like he was having a blast. Larry was fantastic on the piano and what a lovely singing voice. I had such a good time tonight.
So the whole meeting him not meeting him thing. It was said that he would come out and sign autographs and then as people were waiting people kept saying how he was gone and that he wasn't going to come out because he had an early flight to LA. So there are two levels at this venue, and people kept going from downstairs to upstairs trying to find out some solid information. Final downstairs there was a group of people, say maybe 10 that they brought through this door thing and then they said no more. So everyone else was like what is going on? So my mother asked someone who worked there to go in and find out some information and report back to the rest of us so we knew what was going on. In my opinion, it would have been fine if he just bolted and that was that. But to be so misinformed and only allow ten-ish people back didn't seem fair to everyone else. So the gentleman comes back and says we can take some more back. So I got to go back with my mother, our other friends and a few others. We walked back and waited in like a green roomish type area with a couch and such and he comes out this door. Super sweet, talking to everyone, hug and kisses and took pictures with everyone and then after he was done with everyone he left. Everyone was so happy and when we came back out the door the whole crowd and vanished and left. I felt bad for them because I wish the whole situation would have worked out for everyone. But still it was a great night and I had such a great time.

I guess we were just waiting at the wrong place, then. Oh well.
But thanks for the wonderful times, Adam. :) I still feel like I'm at a loss for words for anything that isn't purely anecdotal, but he was amazing.
Taboo - what were you wearing? I dont know if i saw you but I was the short curly haired one with a blue lacy top...one of the last pics Adam took. I agree it was lame to be lied to about him being gone, I wish something had been organized even though I know he had an early flight. I wish he;d move back here!!
I hope Adam is reading this and knows how much this evening meant to me. He makes me SO happy and i'll NEVER 'bite' him like that old dog of his lol
everything- i was wearing a blue vest, and i too have dark curly hair and glasses.
yes and to adam if you are popping in, thanks for the great performance tonight, it was a great time!
You two are silly(Everything and Taboo)--we rode the subway back together and you two realized you live in the same dorm. So yes you saw each other.
And excuse me, we were NOT late. We walked in as the guy before him was talking, we sat down, and he came out a second later. We were comfy in our seats and did not miss a second of Adam. It was perfect timing as far as I'm concerned.
Anyway, so the concert...just...amazing. I saw his concert in Jersey back in April, so many of the songs were the same, but this was such a better experience...mainly because I didn't have girls in front of me talking during Maybe This Time and Maria and the whole audience remained quiet and did not sing along with One Song Glory. (or...maybe I was just fortunate where I was sitting).
He still just has...I was describing it to my friend a couple minutes ago...she said it's the IT factor. He's just...an amazing performer. He just...captures your attention completely and keeps you entertained and focused and he has this charisma and...it's just such a joy watching him perform and introduce the songs and such. Even though I heard him perform many of the songs recently, it still felt surreal to be hearing him sing them live. His voice can do so much--rock/scream, riff, high notes--actually, that's something that struck me about this concert. He was hitting lots of pretty high notes. Or he hit them in Jersey and I didn't hear them because of the stupid noisy girls...
So which was the new new song? The one he sang after the one for Cybele?
You gotta love his audience interaction too. Inserting "late" into Maybe This Time. (See Everything? We weren't late, they were. We didn't get scolded by Adam because we were on time). F*ck Sondheim. Love it. And the devilish look he has taunting the audience by saying this will be his last song, and yelling no talking when people are like no rent?! Ha.
It just...I didn't want it to end. Not to mention the cute little "conducting" he does while Larry plays, the faces he makes...and it was really great that he migrated around the stage quite a bit for a couple of songs, making sure to sing directly to both the right and left side at different times. And though the venue was bigger than I guess the Metropolitan Room, there still wasn't a bad seat. I was near the back and I still felt super close.
Taboo, someone DID say he was coming out at first? We couldn't figure out if everyone was there waiting for him, assuming so or not. But yeah, then I kept hearing he had a plane to catch and had already left, or would be leaving from downstairs or something...but this girl ran over to some other girls to come down so we followed and this security dude knew them and pointed out the ones he knew, and let them come backstage. Meanwhile, everyone else is still trying to tell us he's not there. Yeah right. That security guard your mom talked to was awfully nice, Taboo.
And yeah, Taboo explained what happened "backstage." Adam clearly had to leave, but still couldn't help but be extremely personable and sweet, taking up more time. Hugged people he recognized, shook hands with people he didn't, signed whatever. And had on the black, leather jacket at that point...I'm sure there will be pics with that.
Heh, the shirt itself was...interesting. Probably would have looked weird on most people, but...just worked on him. I think I just liked the bright colors of it.
Ooh, and I'm glad/excited that some of the showtunes he's been singing like Maybe This Time and Maria will be included on the new album
So yeah, just...wow. Thank you, Adam.
The concert? Amazing. Adam sounded brilliant, and his new stuff was so so good. The meeting thing? I don't think I'm going to comment on that, seeing as I left the theater pretty much in tears from the whole situation and I don't really feel like expressing my anger and disappointment right now, which is overshadowing such a good show right now.

I think I've said everything I can manage to say tonight in the other thread... if you're that interested, feel free to venture over.

Yeah, I was with Marissa. I'm SO angry about it all.
But the show was amazing and I had a great time, despite not meeting him [even though I'm basically fuming right now]

I totally get fuming over the way we were treated while waiting for him (see the OT thread for my little rambling about it), but to be almost crying about it? Cheer up - you still saw him sing!
Honestly, while guilty as charged in terms of being disappointed, I, to be frank, find it ridiculous that you could be THAT upset about it that you'd allow it to overshadow the experience of seeing him perform, which is truly what it's all about in the end, IMO.
Sorry, that's just my $.02.
I think his security handled everything very, very poorly, and that lying or sending people on a wild goose-chase is not the way to implant order, but that frustrated me way more than ever would the fact that he wasn't up for braving a room of squealing thirteen-year-olds. That's his prerogative, and I think to be angry at him for that is totally entitled as disrepectful.

It wasn't just his security, though - in fact, it was mainly the Queens Theatre workers who were sending us five different places. It didn't help that you didn't know who you could trust. I don't know if they were under orders from Adam to try to disperse the crowd as much as possible, but telling all of us different stories isn't a way to get people to leave anyway. I think the most outrageous story I heard was that Adam wasn't coming out because the wife of someone in the band was angry. I asked if it was Adam's wife, and they said no, so that leaves... Larry? I spoke to Larry's wife later and laughed about the insanity of it all. If they're intent on lying, at least come up with a good excuse and stick to it so we aren't running all around the theatre.
Oh, yeah; I just sort of lumped all involved together. It was just frustrating to know I was being lied to and blatantly decieved. But when people can tell you're lying, that doesn't help. I just think what happened to night is a case in which honesty would have been the best policy.
Wow, who knew there was such drama after the show.
I already expressed my dislike of the actual theatre on the Off Topic Board, however with a venue and crowd that size, I knew it would be a madhouse after the show so my friend and I didn't even attempt to stick around after the show. So I guess yay for catching the first trolly back to the 7 line and bypassing the drama.
Now this is not directed to anyone specific here whatsoever, however I think because Adam has been gracious enough to stick around for autographs and pictures at the majority of his past shows, more and more people are hearing about it and coming to expect it, almost as if meeting him afterwards is included in the ticket price.
I think some of the drama was perpetuated by the free vodka.
matjomae- I think that if you called the box office and asked about the after show "party" (I use that term loosely) you were given the information that he was going to stick around and sign. I think that it was just a huge break down of communication. I agree with you that people have come to expect it in a sense, since he has been doing it more lately.
emcee- yes the free vodka may have had a little something to do with it, but it seemed to me many of the people there were to young to partake in that fun lol.
'I think some of the drama was perpetuated by the free vodka.'
Ha, not that I am complaining, but I found the whole 'Free Alcohol' and cheese thing a bit bizarre. Three cheers for sponsors..

But if he's signing at every show, shouldn't we almost expect it? Not necessarily expect it as covered by our ticket costs, or as a true obligation of his, but I think feeling slightly disappointed that he didn't sign anything at the show when he's signed autographs at every other stop is natural. Feeling completely bummed about the show because he didn't sign your Rent book is not, however.
I would also like to say that Absolut Vodka should sponsor events more often. TWF, what you say about much of the crowd being too young for it is true, but I was truly surprised at the number of older people in the crowd. There were definitely quite a few "typical teenage Rent girls," but there were so many older couples as well, who I assume were largely season ticket holders. Wonder what they thought of the show...
