This is what Jena Tesse Fox of BroadwayWorld said about Alice Ripley and Emily Skinner in her review of the 2d night of the Broadway Cabaret Festival:
“The high-octane concert let the ladies perform some remarkable solos and duets from new and classic shows. The wide-ranging songlist featured numbers by Sondheim, Menken & Ashman, LaChiusa and Berlin, giving the ladies a wide range of styles with which to show off their vocal and dramatic prowess.”

Emily's about as much of a soprano as she is an ingenue.
Actually, Emily is quite brilliant in her upper register, I think, when singing legit. The same goes for Alice.
^very true. They both have extraordinary ranges.

Sure, it is quite enjoyable. But... she is still a mezzo, bottom line. So is Alice.
