Posted: 3/19/07 at 9:37pmwill get the chance to be on CD? Rachel York and John Barbour's work needs to be saved. They are both brilliant performers, and the chorus is lovely too. And while Mr. York seemed to be a bit over powered by the orchestra in the theater, I think could work nicley on a recording. But, I am just dreaming that I can add another Rachel York CD to my collection, aren't I?

Posted: 3/19/07 at 9:50pmI would think there would be a possibility if it makes it to Broadway, but i think even those chances are slim. I will have to ask Glenn Casale.

Gosh, I would love that, too! And it's an interesting thought you had about Michael York perhaps sounding better in a recording studio than on stage. They can work wonders with all the special equipment.
And as long as we're dreaming, if they ever did record this cast, I'd love them to restore "I Loved You Once in Silence." Oh, to hear Rachel sing that song. She truly was/is brilliant as Guenevere.
Cheonfan, when/where did you see the tour? Did you do the stage door?

I agree...Rach would really do wonders with that song! I saw the tour in Minneapolis last week. I was able to chat with Rachel....she was a dream! How about you? So, who do we need to talk to about adding that song and getting a CD?!

I saw it in Schenectady right after that enormous Valentine's Day blizzard. Brrrr. And I also got to see Rachel after the show. She's such a delight, isn't she?
I brought two friends who had never seen her perform live, and they were both blown away by her. They bought her solo CD at the merchandise counter and had her sign it. One of them has since told me that he can't stop listening to it. He absolutely loves it.
It sounds like MrBundles may have an inside track to Glenn Casale. Maybe he could put a bug in producer Liza Lerner's ear about a cast album.
I think the tour is selling very well, so maybe a CD with this cast would, too.

lc, I think you have urself a fan! We will have to work on planting that seed....even if we are the only ones who will! I agree about Rachel, her solo CD is wonderful- here's hoping there is a second one in the works! I heard about that blizzard - not fun! But living in Minnesota, I know all too well about it

Posted: 3/19/07 at 11:35pmActually the business is really bad on the tour. First hand I can share that. There is very precious little chance that the show will end up in New York, although they have set 7 weeks aside from the bookings in the Fall IN CASE things change. It's highly doubtful that they will, though, and the stars' (all 3 of them) salaries are sucking every dime out of the potential profits. What the HELL was Tom McCoy thinking when he decided that it was a good idea to hire Michael York? York is a nice guy, but he's draining the well both financially and artistically, not to mention the nearly unanimous scathing reviews of his performance. I can tell you without hesitation that there are no plans whatsoever in the works for the show to be recorded.

Well, chenofan, I guess we'll just have to enjoy Summer of '42 now that it's out. I just got word from CD Universe that my order shipped today. Woo hoo! I have already downloaded Rachel's songs from iTunes, and they are fantastic. But I'm really looking forward to hearing the entire show again.

A new Arthur? How about Brent Barrett? I understand he was terrific in the Paper Mill production a couple of years back. Or, if they felt they needed a "name" to replace Michael York, how about Kevin Kline? I think he could deliver the boy and the man very well.
Sure, this is fantasy, but what they heck?
