Well, I enjoy Loretta's version, alot was cut when they made the move from stage to record. While, Heather Headley's version is more complete, I really just don't like it.
I think there might be and LA cast version, but I'm not sure if that's very easy for me to get ahold of.
Bump! And while I'm here, is there anyone here that might have seen Loretta's original performace. Any idea why she didn't get a Tony nom?

I believe the only two available recordings of "Ain't No Party" are from the OBC and the concert recording. There was never an LA cast recording.
I sympathize with you on this one. I've longed for a full, good recording of this song. Poor Heather cracks her way through it on the Concert, and while Loretta rips one out on the OBC, she sings about half of it.
I wonder if it will possibly be recorded on the movie soundtrack as a bonus track? I'd love to hear Anika belt the hell out of it.
Unfortunately, "Ain't No Party" was never written into the film script from the get-go, so it was never considered, therefore never recorded, etc.
So no, Anika Noni Rose never recorded it, nor filmed it.
The only 'official' recordings of the song are:
Loretta Devine's recording on the Original Broadway Cast Recording
Heather Headley's recording on the 2-disc Actor's Fund Concert Recording
There are 'live' recordings of Loretta Devine singing it, but we can't mention those here. Oops!
