Just because I tend to like really weird, random things.
Has anyone else ever heard of/seen the show "Bingo!"? A friend of mine did a reading of it in April and it's just such a great show. I was wondering if anyone was either there or if anyone else has seen it elsewehere (played the Ordway for a while) or has heard/heard of it.
ALso looking for any fellow "By Jupiter" fans.

Yes, saw Bingo's latest reading (fittingly done in a church basement down the block from Joe Allens's...although the building is used as a theater).
It's been done regionally before and is a cute show.
A bingo game is in progress during a raging storm...the weather doesn't deter the bingo-obsessed ladies and their backstory emerges throughout the evening. Actual games of bingo are played by the audience (two cards given as you enter...if you win you win 5 bucks or so).
So, it is sorta participatory theater. The jokes are hokey (on purpose), the songs are great, the cast was simply tremendous - Broadway people - and it was great fun.
Should work really well regionally. Although the question remains : for people who love bingo - wouldn't they rather go to a real bingo game and play all night instead of just twice...and if you don't like bingo, why would you go to a play in which it figures so prominently?
Really had fun though.

Which day were you there? I was there on Monday...Actually won the first round of Bingo (which i got a good laugh out of - the "hostess" is a friend of mine). Mary Testa was just so phenomenal in this show, she was really hysterical. I also really enjoyed Beth Malone. Kind of wish she'd come to NY and do some more out here. Ratched's Lament was hysterical. Yay for finding other Bingo people! Do you know if there are any plans to record? I hope it gets a nice Off-Broadway run somewhere, I can totally see it being the Rocky Horror of the Bingo world. (says the girl who walked around Times Square Toys R Us after the show singing "Gentleman Caller" with her friend/partner in Bingo crime)
was recently presented in San Francisco by 42nd Street Moon, ther original lost musical company.
