Hey Guys,
Does anyone know much about how Australians/Foreigners can ever audition/get work on Broadway?
I know it's probably virtually impossible but just wondering if there is even a tiny tiny glimmer of opportunity!?

The only way I know is having the producer formally request a waiver from Equity to allow a foreign performer, and Equity is getting really nasty about allowing that these days...
... which leads to my usual rant about unions doing their big ol' part to ruin NY theatre, but that's another subject for another time.

Posted: 9/30/06 at 11:20amHow did Ann Mandrella (from I think France or Germany, not sure) do it then when she went into Jaques Brell (I know I spelled it wrong) as a sub? I read that she covered one of the women who was on vacation. She is married to Drew Sarich, so maybe she has citizenship...but how could she work at the show? I assume it is an equity show? How did SHE become Equity? I dunno.
