That's unfortunate...
Why is it filmed like a bootleg?

What's up with "Finding Wonderland" being so under-orchestrated....of all songs to end slow....Ugh. The chorus thing sounds stupid as well IMO. Not going to lie, I don't get the door either...why not a book..? Ugh I don't think I'll understand until I see it perhaps...
The dancing/choreography looks INCREDIBLE though!
I'm not going to lie - I don't get the Jabberwhocky necessarily either. But whatever, I'll let whoever have their fun.

Nikki Snelson sounds hideous in that Mad Hatter number.

The show is just starting and still have things to improve on but there are some wonderful numbers in the show!! i saw it Wednesday night and im going again thursday the 17th to see it again! For what they have and for just starting i think it can go very far with improvements and someday make it to broadway hopefully! the cast is AMAZING!!! Janet Dacal, Nikki Snelson, Darren Ritchie, and the whole cast are just wonderful, just fantastic!
I can understand some of the things you are seeing in this video not make sense but you have to see it to understand it like the door at the end or the reason for the small orchestration and such. it all works and makes sense in the end once you've seen it.
So if you are in the Tampa area or Houston area and have a chance to go see it do so because it is a wonderful experience and to be able to see a show just at its beginning and then see where it ends and changes is just awesome! im so lucky and excited to be able to say i saw the first of it! in a way its like Wicked from when it first showed its face people did not like it and did not think it could go anywhere but look what it has become! Just go with an open mind and see for yourself what WONDERLAND is like!

Posted: 12/11/09 at 3:25pmLooks so strange and kind of fascinating. I must say I'm curious how this show goes over, and I'm not a Wildhorn fan. The Dacal "Wonderland" song sounded SOOO much like Marvin Hamlisch's "Disneyland" from Smile. Certainly not boring, though.

"Why is it filmed like a bootleg?"
This may be the first time (or atleast in a long while) that they've had to do a B-roll in Tampa. Also, if you look at the other WIldhorn regional production premiere press reels (some are on Murphy's website), it looks like they were filmed for archive purposes like that!

As a Frank Wildhorn fan, I only have this to say:
Oh Lordy Lord.

Does it matter? They hire a film crew to do it. This video is shaky. It has nothing to do with the location. They hired a cheap and bad crew.
This doesn't look like archive purposes it looks like a bootleg...

I pretty much laughed and had a ridiculous face the entire time I watched that......
woah that was awful. And while I'm sure those performers are extremely talented they all sounded awful in that video. Bad clips or something....

Posted: 12/12/09 at 1:30pmI wasn't sure if the sound design was bad or if the theatre just has bad acoustics. For me it was hard to make an accurate judgment on the songs because they were hard to hear.

Posted: 12/12/09 at 1:32pmWhat the f*ck did I just watch? I had to watch the ALNM montage right after to remind myself of why I enjoy musical theatre. I really hope that the show is better than that poorly shot press montage. That wasn't even LAUGHABLY bad like The First Wives Club, it was physically painful. Please excuse me while I take a tylenol.

Posted: 12/12/09 at 5:20pmI thought Julie Brooks sounded fantastic, for the record. Snelson I'm sure is supposed to sound "evil" and is trying to sound it...Again, not liking Dacal. Don't understand Tad Wilson's part. As for Ritchie, I remember when I saw DRACULA, the musical I didn't like him the first time around and liked him the second time, so perhaps it's the case here!
