Kind of crazy, but it could be interesting.
And if not, you could always catch Stratford's production of INTO THE WOODS this season as well. A wonderful Canadian thespian, Peter Donaldson (who wowed me last Stratford season in TIMON OF ATHENS) will be playing the Narrator. I'm very excited!
It seems the Barenaked Ladies are only composing music for AYLI, and will be using Shakespeare's lyrics. I believe it's just publicity for Stratford (does it really matter who writes the music?). What intrigues me about this production of AS YOU LIKE IT is the fact that it's set in the 1970s and will be a flower-power interpretation!

That's actually Peter Donaldson...not Donald Peterson! Most of the actors at Stratford are great...too bad they aren't widely known. I stick to my guns that Martha Henry is one of the best living actresses in the world today.
Didn't Martha Henry film her Mary Tyrone in "Long Day's Journey..." for posterity?

breakneck, they may not all be 'widely known' outside of Canada but certainly, to theatre lovers there, many are very well-known. Names like William Hutt, Martha Henry, Amanda Plummer, Cynthia Dale, Sheila McCarthy, Steven Sutcliffe, Thom Allison, will be known internationally. Plus my friend Nazneen is back there again this year! So yay for her. :) It's the largest and most successful classical repertory company on the continent and attendance is more than half a million so I wouldn't worry about the actors not being famous enough. :)
this is the last time you sucker me into one of these theatrical threads with the promise of a completely nude rosalind. the. last. time.
