That is NOT welcome to Broadway. Tony winning musicals aside from Book Of Mormon who's premiums are no longer that high have asked that amount. And from that commercial I saw, I'm not seeing those prices to be worth it.

That's a ticket scalping website...you can't really be this unintelligent, right? As was said earlier in the theatre, their top ticket price is $277 for premium seating.

Since you were wrong, maybe we can cut the cattiness about the show?

The main reason ticket prices are so high is an attempt by theatres and producers to scalp the scalpers who used to charge that much for premium seats anyway.

Shows fully intend to offer discounted seats and rushes, etc. that bring the prices back down to "affordable," (although that's debatable, too).

I'm not sure if this is working or not, since it's been going on for a decade or so already. I'd be interested to hear, though.

Are the scalpers being scalped, or does that just drive scalper prices up to $1,000 per ticket?

I have never bought a "scalped" seat, so I don't know if they're selling. I have paid half price for a premium seat (at the box office) for Jersey Boys at the last minute. It was a $250 seat offered for $125. I sat 10th row, center.

Telecharge and Ticketmaster are the only official ticketing sites for most broadway theatres. I don't get why people have such a hard time wrapping their head around that.

I think Stickit must be connected to the show. Because if someone says anything negative about it he or she gets upset. I wasn't being negative. It's just my opinion which I'm entitled to. That commercial does not seem exciting I'm sorry.

Nope, just a fan. I don't even live in New York. I just think when people say things, they should have facts to back 'em up. Why don't you just admit you made a mistake and move on?

I have no problem admitting I was misinformed. But I still also have a right to express my thoughts on this outlet. Which is what it is for. I have never belittled a show or said I hated a show as most people on here do. So please don't make it seem like I come here speaking ill of shows.

Premium Seats are not defined by location. They are defined by greed.
If a show can get $250 for 10th row center they call it premium. If no one wants to pay that, they reduce it to the regular price. If no one wants to pay that, they reduce it to a discounted price. If no one wants to pay that, it goes to TKTS. Somtimes TDF tix are 10th row center. And lets not forget comps getting the best seats in the house.

Even the tickets purchased with a discount code are practically unaffordable to me these days. Like many in New York, I live check to check, even though I make an okay salary. If I buy two discounted tickets to a Broadway show nowadays, that is most likely to yank no less than $200 from my bank account and then I struggle to get to the next paycheck with a MetroCard and meals. Frankly, it's getting to the point where it is not worth it. There is enough compelling theatre being produced off Broadway and at the non-profits for prices like $25, that I think I'm mostly going to leave Broadway to the 1% and the tourists.
