Okay. I realize that whatever occurs at the stagedoor is not part of a performer's job. I also realize that it is not necessary for the performers to even come out the stagedoor, etc.
But Christ, would it KILL Bebe to crack a smile at her adoring fans? I couldn't care less about getting her autograph, personally, but when there are little nine-year-olds seeking your autograph and telling you that you were great, saying "thank you" probably wouldn't absolutely hurt. It would take such little effort on her part to wipe the sour expression off her face for all of ten minutes. Basic manners.

Posted: 1/15/07 at 3:43pmI thought she was great. She kindly requested that pictures not be taken, and people still shoved cameras in her face and took them anyway. When people respected her, she showed them respect. I think it's perfectly fair.

Posted: 1/15/07 at 4:38pmI understand her position on the pictures, but just found her to be completely unfriendly to even the youngest and most respectful of fans. Might have been just what I observed.

She was perfectly sweet sunday night when I saw her - there were crowds pushing and shoving, people calling her Lilith and trying to snap pictures when she'd asked them not to - so I backed up and decided it wasn't worth it - the crowds were upsetting ME because it was clear it was making her uncomfortable.
She saw my friend and I back off and came after us around the crowds and out into the rain to sign our playbills - and told us it was her pleasure and that she was glad we enjoyed the show.
She might be bad at stage dooring, but I think its the pushy stuff that goes on that she doesn't enjoy. I wish she had a barracade or someone to help her. She was so sweet. And she did smile.
And I enjoy her Roxie WAY more than I thought I would... go Bebe!

Saw her last night...ALMOST DIED! She is FLAWLESS! Everything about her, every glance, the tiniest movement, she makes everything look the way it's supposed to look.
(and then I sigh and think about all the other talentless fools that have had the chance to be Roxie *coughashleesimpsoncough*)

If you're respectful of her (as you should be) she's an absolute gem.
When I stage doored, she came out and my friends and I waited paitently for her to get to us. I told her how moved I was her by her monologue leading into "Roxie" and how brilliant her performance was. She stayed with me longer than most, smiled and when I asked her for a picture, she, as sweet as can be, explained that she's never really been comfortable with them and even said, "I hope that's okay...". I'm not exactly the most outgoing/social person in the world and wouldn't be surprised if I was just as shy coming out of the stagedoor. Some people started flashing cameras in her face about 3 inches away from her and she finally asked them not to do that, again - smiling and saying it as polite as can be.
Sometimes I think we all forget that they are people. It's their job to perform, and, if we want one, it is OUR job to ask, politely, for an autograph and photo op. They can decide yes or no.
Her performance is one of the finest I've seen. Hoping I see it again soon!

I'm seeing it Saturday. im really excited to see what bebe is doing with the role!
as far as stage dooring goes, iluvtheatertrash said it perfectly. they are all people, and is they decline a photo, thats their choice and everyone should respect it.
