Bernadette Peters in Nashville, TN (A Mini-Review)
#1Bernadette Peters in Nashville, TN (A Mini-Review)
Posted: 6/25/07 at 1:32pmThis past Saturday evening, I saw Bernadette Peters in concert with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. Ms. Peters looked beautiful in a flesh-colored long gown covered in clear sparkling sequins. She was amazingly fit, both physically and vocally. She opened with "Let Me Entertain You," and the show just got better with each song. I was impressed by her ability to "sell" a song without making it look staged or cheesy. Of special note was her rendition of "Fever," which she delivered from atop a grand piano with just the right amount of camp. Towards the end of the show, she did "Being Alive" from "Company" as a part of her several-song tribute to Sondheim. She brought the house down at the end of the concert with "Rose's Turn." As the show concluded, she came out with an adorable puppy from the Nashville Humane Association and sang one last good night song while cradling the puppy in her arms. I wish I could remember every song that she did, but I hope this gives you an idea about the evening. It was a wonderful concert, and I have a new respect for her talent as a performer. Cheers!

She did indeed end the evening with "Count Your Blessings." She received no less than three standing ovations for her performance.
