Bravo Byner!

Posted: 3/9/04 at 8:21amJohn Byner has joined the cast of The Frogs, this is great news as he is such a gifted comic actor and has a true love of the stage. I had the thrill of performing with him and it was so wonderful watching him work, he was generous, supportive and the best partner you could wish for on stage. It's funny as I would tell him all the time, "You should be on Broadway, do Max in The Producers" and now he's starring with Nathan Lane! This production sounds more exciting everyday!

John is hysterical and I can't wait to see him in FROGS. I've been a fan of John's since SOAP - then the show Bizarre! Little trivia - he had a cameo in "What's Up Doc?" and was the voice of the ant and the aardvark in The Pink Panther Show.
I wished Comedy Central would air his John Byner Comedy Hour.
Eddie - do you remember the clip of him in that oversized muscle outfit?

Posted: 3/9/04 at 9:22amI remember John from many years ago but haven't seen him in anything recently - he sounds like a good choice for the Broadway stage. I am VERY MUCH looking forward to something "new" from Sondheim (maybe not new to the world - but new to Broadway) I am keeping my fingers crossed for a Sondheim triumph!

Posted: 3/9/04 at 9:33amOH yes, I remember, he also did a few voices for the film The Black Cauldron, he is such a pro and the show we did was his first "book" musical and he jumped right in, I was Scrooge and he was ALL of the Ghosts of Past, Present, and Future, all played as celebrities, it was a laugh fest, we had a few ad lib moments that very often would have me unable to continue, he's the bizzomb. Posted: 3/9/04 at 8:54pmI too appeared with Byner about a year ago, and wrote a television special for him and others decades back. He's just as likeable and young at heart as ever, and completely unpretentious, as well as generous and supportive on stage, with zilch star tripping. Great to hear he's in "The Frogs." He makes me want to see it...NOW!
