Corbin certainly heled "In the Heights" this week. It was nice to see "Mary Poppins" go up also.
This was a Holiday weekend. So that explains some things. But a pretty good week.

^True that this was a holiday weekend as well. Do you think Michelle Willaims is also helping "Chicago?"
But the Holiday didn't really change this past weeks grosses... the snow probably hurt most of them. The grosses for this week will be effected by the holiday.
SO happy for In The Heights, finally Corbin's name is catching on!

In what way will the holiday affect this week's grosses? Valentine's Day was Sunday, followed by a holiday Monday. Many shows changed schedules to have an extra performance on Sunday evening to take advantage of that. All of those performances would have been counted in LAST week's grosses, the ones you see reported here.
The holiday itself was officially Monday, but to my knowledge, no shows added a special performance last night to accommodate that. The big weekend just happened. While the numbers are up overall, I suspect many of the increases were somewhat offset by the snow on Wednesday.
But there were still sold out shows last night and probably again tonight, and I don't know about anyone else but I'm off Wednesday. And I know a lot of tourists are in for the whole week.
don't all of the schools on Long Island have this entire week off?? That should help grosses this week.
And despite a major snow storm Tue. night into Wed., these grosses are pretty good. Shows must of had big crowds this weekend.
All but one show went up this week (even then, the defecit wasn't grand).
It's so much nicer to see number above 65% across the board for the most part

A lot of tourists are in town for the week - every week.
A lot more tourists were in town for the long weekend. Clearly the holiday yesterday helped last weeks grosses, and in a major way. 3 day weekend = more tourists, with many traveling back on the Monday, so they are all around to attend the shows on Sunday day/night.
Pretty much every marginal show (ie shows not typically selling out) was up big over last week, the Monday Holiday, as well as the VDay are really the only explanation for that. Next week (2/21) will be down compared to this week (2/14)even though technically the holiday was this week. Up over last week (2/7) though, I would imagine.
