Nice to see DRS still doing pretty well. But it's such a great show, it should be at 100%.
Of all the musicals running only RING OF FIRE appeasr to be in trouble. The rest are all above 80% and thriving even long running shows like BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, RENT and PRODUCERS. Of course these three paid off long ago.(Also in the solid HIT category are: AVE Q, CHICAGO, HAIRSPRAY, LION KING, MAMMA MIA, PHANTOM, SWEENEY TODD, and WICKED.)
Among the plays, the revival of BAREFOOT IN THE PARK is struggling. A revival of AWAKE AND SING is off to a slow start. And WELL is not-so at 29%! Even as a solo show those numbers are terrible.
Still the overall attendence seesms to indicated that Broadway is in a much healthier place now than it has been in years.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

WELL has a cast of six.
Was last week another big spring break week? Just curious with all the grosses being up?

I believe Awake & Sing did ok considering it was its first week of previews. I would have hoped a better attendance considering it stars Lauren Ambrose and Mark Ruffalo.
Is Ring of Fire at above 60% anywhere close to breaking even? It doesn't seem to be the disastrous flop I thought it would be.
Looks like Spring Break numbers are finally setting in. Though I was impressed with many of the shows, I was suprised that the producers fell around 17% in the last week, while many other shows rose. 80% attendence isn't bad, but you'd expect the producers to be a high grossing show in a week where many shows are greater than 90%. Maybe it's just an abboration..

well still 94% is still pretty good. considering everyone called this a flop. Also, i tried to get tickets for thursday's performance, and it said it was sold out. so it must be selling pretty well. maybe everyone wants to see why its so bad.
Or maybe mainstream audiences are flocking to it because it's Elton John with vampires.
I have trouble believing it is selling out at such a huge Theatre
after those SF Reviews
and someone said it was at TKTS

no, its not selling out every night, but it was sold out thursday, or at least still is. Or maybe it was Wednesday. Either way, I was surprised.
well you should be seeing Sweeney
and maybe threepenny
if you like yer theatre dangerous
As for Lestat, if I recall, Dance of the Vampires was in the high 80%s at the beginning of previews, and look what happened to that once the reviews came out.
