Sad to hear this. In addition to her Broadway and TV roles, I will always think of her singing "Winter Was Warm" in "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol." Such a beautiful song by Bob Merrill and Jules Styne, and her wistful, melancholy rendition was Garland-esque. In fact, every time I hear it, I wonder how Judy might have interpreted this little gem.
Jean did it justice on her own. And this time of year, I will definitely watch it and listen to her beautiful talent.

Posted: 11/30/13 at 4:06pmIn Los Angeles around 2000, I saw Jane Kean in a staged reading of 70 girls 70. I was familiar with her from the Honeymooners muscials with Jackie Gleason, Sheila MacRae and art Carney. He co stars in 70 Girls were Marni Nixon, Charlotte Rae. Robert Masdan, William Scharlet (patti Duke's father) and other older Hollywood favorites. The show proved to be (but yet again) a mess of a book with an amazing score. Too bad you can't fix 70 girls 70 without throwing out the unsalvagable book and starting over. But Ms. Jane Kean stole the evening from all on stage. She was a delight onstage and I fell instantly in love with her. She was very sweet after the show. A very talented woman. And a very nice one. RIP.
