We're working on our 2006/2007 Season Brochure here in Tucson, AZ and we wanted to include some quotes. Do you guys have any really good ones from Broadway legends, playwrights, composers about theatre in general. Nothing too specific. Thanks for your help on this.

"The pleasure [of theatre] is in being allowed to play in so many different sandboxes." ~ Julie Andrews. I love that one.

"To be in love is the sweetest thing, but to risk everything for love is even sweeter!" from Kiss of the spider woman.

"People have their opinions and that doesn't mean that their opinions are wrong or right. I just take it with a grain of salt because opinions are like as*holes, everyone has one". -Felicia Finley-

My favorite one from Oscar Wilde is something like: "I love acting. It is so much more real than life." But that's kind of more about acting...

All the world's a stage. Some of us just have
better seats.

- Unknown
Kind of a good one since it's a brochure and you want them to buy tickets...

The stage is not merely the meeting place of all
the arts, but is also the return of art to life.

- Oscar Wilde
Really like that one.

"This table, he is over one hundred years old. If I could, I would take an old gramophone needle and run it along the surface of the wood. To hear the music of the voices. All that was said." - Doug Wright, I Am My Own Wife

"theater is life,
film is art,
television is furniture." ~unknown

It's one of the tragic ironies of the theatre that
only one man in it can count on steady work - the
night watchman.
- Tallulah Bankhead

Acting is not a state of being ... but a state of
appearing to be. You can't be eight times a week
without going stark staring mad. You've got to be
in control.
- Noel Coward

I don't possess a lot of self-confidence. I'm an
actor so I simply act confident every time I hit
the stage. I am consumed with the fear of failing.
Reaching deep down and finding confidence has made
all my dreams come true.
- Arsenio Hall

"Are you sorry for civilization? I am sorry for it too." ~Coast of Utopia: Shipwreck
