Just back from our weekend in the city
First saw Mimi La Duck. It was a strange little piece of entertainment. The sets are really cheesy looking. The cast is first rate & the place went wild when Kitt made her appearance. She only had 2 numbers in Act 1 so an another number ( not listed in the playbill) was added in Act 2. We gave it an 8 out of possible 10
We than went to our hotel The Renaissance. We wound up getting upgraded to a junior suite. It was great & right across from Hershey world. We loved the big huge bed & god was it soft. The service in the hotel was great and out of the 3 Times Square Hotels we stayed at previously (Millenium & Marriott) the Renaissance was the best
We had a very nice dinner @ Foleys a fish house in the hotel. A bit pricey but very good. We tried to go out to Don't Tell Mama later in the evening but did not go as we got there early & the previous show was late so we would have had to wait a half hour in a cold wind. We went back to the hotel, stopping on the way for soda & munchies, & plopped down in bed with the Sunday times & put on TV
Today we got a late checkout & the bed was so comfortable I said the hell with the other 2 Sunday papers so we could stay in bed longer. We then went to see Le Miz. Shocking nothing in the way of souvenirs was being sold. The show was great & Norm Lewis was great as Javert & Alexander Gemignani was first rate as Valjean. The three children roles were all played by understudies. As stated in another thread, thought DRV was quite weak in the role.
For some reason the flag was not waved at the end. No idea why. All in all, a great weekend & we made a promise to do it as frequently as possible
