Give him a handheld mic, give the lighting a concert-esque feel, and claim its an "inner monologue".
I wouldn't have him sing until the very end--and give him a powerful ballad about regret.
I wasn't crazy about the movie, and it didn't seem to have a lot of moments that lend themselves to music.

I wouldn't want to see this happen unless maybe Sondheim or Guettel sign on for the score.

Great movie, but it would be a terrible musical.
they can turn that first love scene into a tap dance number. lol
