I found out yesterday that Bryan was to be going on for Gary Beach tonight, so I bit the bullet and decided it was necessary to see the LA CAGE revival for my 6th time. Bryan is, after all, the best standby in the business. Well, I just came home from the show and needless to say, he gave a great performance. I love seeing him go on because you know he'll always put his full energy into every onstage moment. I think the voice may have been a bit tired, as I remember him being much more impressive vocally in PIMPERNEL, but nevertheless he did a wonderful job with the part.
For any one else who's interested to catch him in the role, he is scheduled to perform on several upcoming dates due to Gary's PRODUCERS movie conflicts.
Right now, Bryan is confirmed for these performances:
Sat, March 19 - 2:00 pm
Tues, March 22 - 7:00 pm
Wed, March 23 - 2:00 and 8:00 pm
Thurs, March 24 - 8:00 pm
Also out tonight was Linda Balgord, capably replaced by Patty Goble. It should be mentioned too that Michael Mulheren gives one of the best BCEFA curtain speeches I've seen.

Why doesn't Bryan ever get a role? He's always the stand-by. LAst show that I know he did was FB.
I've met Bryan, and he's a great person. I just wish he would showcase more, instead of always being a stand-by!
it's unfortunate that we don't get to see more of him in the starting lineups of casts. he just happens to be one of those guys who is talented and versatile enough to be a top choice for many different roles, but just always winds up losing the marquee to that one other guy who maybe does his bit just a little bit better or has a bigger name.
In Bryan's case, it's hard to say what the reason is. And while I can't imagine that it's such a bad niche to fill, he's definitely become typecast as the go-to guy when you need someone to hang out near the theatre simply being talented and rehearsed. hopefully this is just indicative of what place in his career he is currently at. the tools are there, but the timing hasn't been perfect yet. I hope that the right role does come along under the perfect circumstances that will let him come into his own as a star.
Until then, do go see him in LA CAGE if you can, because he is doing fabulous work in that area of Broadway just on the outskirts of celebrity- I call it the "Walter Charles District".

Damn. I went to the box office yesterday to ask them that exact same question and was told Bryan would not be performing again until at least May. Thanks for posting this.
