Posted: 3/12/06 at 8:05pmHey y'all. Just wanted to know when Norbert Leo Butz leaves Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. Also, does anyone know the days in which he will be out of the show? Thanks in advance.

His current contract runs through July 2006, I believe.
As far as "planned" days off... not sure. He has been missing shows here and there.

Posted: 3/12/06 at 9:23pmand he should be renewing his contract in july...

Posted: 3/12/06 at 9:26pmdo you really think he'd renew his contract, that would really surprise me, considering how long he's been with the shwo and his health . . . not that i don't want him to stay with the show, i love Norbert and just want what's best for him!

Posted: 3/12/06 at 9:27pmNorbert most likely wont be renewing. He has been with the show for a long time now and is having vocal troubles. He also has a sitcom deal with CBS to work on. Look for him to be leaving in July

Posted: 3/12/06 at 9:32pmThe summer is def pilot season BUT just cos ya got a pilot doesn't mean ya got a show. A lot depends on the writers. Personally I believe Norb would take a break regardless, I'm sure he'd have no trouble getting another show when he wants. (well, probably not)

Posted: 3/12/06 at 9:44pmYes but getting his pilot made is going to be a monumental task for him. A pilot would set the tone for the entire series if it were picked up so he has to make sure it is verywell written and up to standards. I am sure that he is taking it seriously and he will not be able to focus his full attention on a television career if he is still with DRS. I would be very suprised if he extends.
#7re: Butz's Departure from DRS?
Posted: 3/12/06 at 9:59pmHe has been to LA recently to discuss his show so I think its safe to say that all systems are go on it after he leaves in July. Norbert has said in previous interviews that he doesnt like to stay with shows more than a year because the roles no longer challenge him by that time. His extension for DRS was a real surprise, but he says he enjoys the role so much that he felt there was still more to do with it. Still, by July, it is almost a lock he is leaving. I, along with other fans, are hoping his sitcom has a chance. But who knows.

Posted: 3/12/06 at 10:06pmhe will either be renewing in july if all systems fail with the pilot or will revisit the role in another year or so, sort of a marissa winokur type thing. those are his two ideas.

I have been told my two seperate reliable sources that Norbert and Greg Jbara will exit the show July 23rd.
Both will head to Los Angeles. Norbert is going to begin work on his television pilot, and Greg's family (particularly his sons) are eager to go back to California where they lived previously and where most of their friends and family are located.
EDIT: I originally had the 23rd, but changed it when I looked at the calendar. Emailed both sources and both came back with the 23rd. One also says Joanna Gleason is leaving the same day.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Posted: 3/12/06 at 10:23pmGreg is definitely leaving the 23rd, not 30th.

Posted: 3/12/06 at 10:37pmI'm glad Norb is being very hands on with the show. A lot of leads just take what is given to them but it's pretty obvious the network is behind him and will suport him w casting choices writers and scripts. The only thing is that bugs me...is he'd hafta relocate to L.A. to shoot, which means we'd lose him from the theatre scene for a long time* wipes tears from eyes*

Posted: 3/13/06 at 1:26amGreg Jbara has 2 sons, not daughters, and they are too young to really be missing LA (at least the younger one is). He is leaving in July (I believe the 23rd) to go back to LA.

I want David Cross or Jack Black to take over in that role. Not that I think they WILL, but man oh man would that be amazing.

Posted: 3/13/06 at 2:27amHis understudy Jason Gillman is really good though and he would do fine if he took over full time. However, like with Lawrence, they will go big name. Jack Black would be one heck of a signing.

Highly doubt that. I am sure that Norbert will not be renewing that contract, and if the pilot does fail, then he's going to want to do something else...and I'm sure he'd have plenty of offeres from people eager to have him in his show.

Greg has mentioned that his sons miss their old house, as does he and his wife. He also mentioned that they had a really good school near them and that he wanted them to grow up in their home in LA, not an apartment in New York City...

Posted: 3/13/06 at 7:47amYou are right about the house, I had forgotten about that. He renovated it himself and is looking forward to going back and finishing it. Besides the school nearby, there is also the beach.
