This production seems to cut out the Rosie character. I guess it's supposed to appeal to kids.

it's a really lame production that was a school tour this year.. they have a guy playing a female role.
Oh, are they trying to bring gay awarness to the schools of America by having Albert have a lover named Robbie (instead of Rosie)? You know schools, a simple lesson in the classroom might be more effective than a ridculous mishmash of a classic show. How do I know? Well, about a year ago, an elementary school in my town conntacted MTI to ask for permission to write an "Educational" version of West Side Story with a character-education theme in it. MTI agreed, and the poor town had to sit through the pitiful production. Yep, Welcome to Long Island schools.

I don't think it's a big deal to cut out Rosie for a shorter production. In reality, her story is a love story. They can easily have it focused on Conrad and Kim, and Albert sort of acts as both Rosie and himself, and sort of recedes into the background. No problem.
