Cathy Rigby as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz?

I read that she was in a production in the 80's (85 and 89 i think) did anyone see her? I've only seen 1 picture of her.

She was Dorothy at Sacramento Music Circus in 1981, and again in 1987. I saw it in '81 at the age of 8. It was my first live theatre experience. :)

Cool! How was she? I know you were 8 so you can't remember everything, but from what you can remember how was she?

*shrugs* I guess she was fine. I remember more of the experience as a whole than the show specifically. My parents took me because I loved (and still do) The Wizard of Oz. I did get to meet her briefly after one of her Peter Pan tour stops in Sacramento, and told her that she was in my first theatre experience. She seemed to get a kick out of that.

Incidentally... She meet her husband Tom McCoy while playing Dorothy... he was playing the Tin Man.

I know somebody who was in this production and they said Rigby was charming in the role and that her voice was actually a lot better back then. She's kind of stripped it in the years since with too much PETER PAN.

No, but remember that part where Dorothy is walking on the fence in Kansas? I bet she used it as a balance beam and did flips on that.

Well it's been several years and I'm sure nobody really cares now, but I was in this '81 cast of The Wizard of Oz and served as the Mayor of the Munchkin City for this run at the Sacramento Music Circus.  Cathy Rigby was a true talent.  Her singing was wonderful and she was a true professional even then.  I only now realized after reading a few reviews today that this was her first off-broadway attempt  to act.  I feel honored to have been there.  I could post some photos if I were properly begged, but I believe I only have backstage shots.

She also did the role with Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera in July of 1989.

Mark Nielebeck - It would be fun to see photos if you still have them!  I know folks who worked with Cathy Rigby on Peter Pan and they adore her.  I thought her voice was surprisingly solid when we saw it many years ago.
