"did you see Jennifer Holiday do mamma?"
I saw her. A little stiff at comedy but she sang the S H * T out of "When You're Good To Mama". Goosebumps!!

Well all of these suggestions are better than some of the cast now.
I mean Smokey Robinson? What the hell are they thinking.
I think Harisson Ford might make a good Billy Flinn but I do not know how his voice is.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 3:06pmhow come no one is sold on Madonna and Cher as Roxie and Velma? they can act, both been nominated for the Oscar. they can sing, Grammys out their butts. they can dance. where's the problem?

Posted: 2/17/06 at 3:15pmI don't know if Children&Art is being serious, but Madonna was supposed to play the role of Velma Kelly in the movie version of Chicago when Bob Fosse was planning on making the film himself when he was alive, he said he'd win her her first Oscar. I think she would never agree to replace anyone in this show, but I'd love to see her tackling the role. Of course Cher could never dance Fosse so as much as I love her, the only role in Chicago she could probably do is Mamma Morton. I'd love to see Cher in Mame like she was supposed to.

Awwwwwwwwwe J-Ho! I LOVE Jennifer Holliday! :)
Yes, I loved her as Mama
I say Denzel as Billy. Who cares if he can't sing? (for the record, I dunno if he can or can't) Now THAT would get my ass back to the Ambassador in a by God New York minute!

I think Liza as Mama would be such a GREAT idea. I really hope we see that someday.
And um, I can see Patti LUPONE as Mama Morton also. It's not your typical Patti role. But she can belt the crap out if it, and I can see her doing a real sassy and sexy Mama opposed to a butch Mama.
Though at this point I doubt she would be a replacement in a show where she will only get 2 songs - unless if it was part of the final cast when the show closes someday.

Posted: 2/17/06 at 10:52pmI love Madonna and Cher, but what a disaster it would be if they EVER appeared in "Chicago."

Posted: 2/18/06 at 5:11pmIs it just me, but I think Elaine Paige would be great as mama

alice ripley and emily skinner

I'm sure if Lisa Rinna or Stacy Keibler can carry a tune, it will be no time before one or both of them end up as Roxie and Velma, respectively!
PS If it does happen, I said it first!
