So I went today the matinee show. I arrived at the aronoff at 12 & got 3rd row seats for 27.50 each. I really wanted to see the show because I just thought well I may never get to see Chita Rivera perform live again and I should try to. The show was well it was alright. Compared to other shows I have seen it was nothing to write home about but there was a lot of good things about the show. First, I must say I am impress that a woman who is around 72 years old can still dance like that. Also she was on stage about 98% of the show that impressed me as well. You could tell that her age was not catching up with her just yet but on the other hand her singing well lets just say it wasn't amazing but not to bad. It just sounded like she had chained smoked every single day of her life. I think the main problem with this show was that there just really wasn't a plot. The music was pretty good, the one thing I hated is she maybe sang a chorus and verse of a song if you were lucky. America was really dissapointing because they sang one line. On the other hand, the ensemble was really talented group of dancers and the really helped create the mood of the show.
Overall, a very entertaining day at the theatre and I am glad I went. After the show, Chita came right out and was very rushed but signed and took pictures with everyone. She was very nice and talked to everyone for quite a while even being in a hurry. She is undoubtly one of the most talented people ever and a legend on the stage. You could really tell she appreciated where she came from and who got her where she is. If this show is coming to your city please go and see this remarkable woman!
I'm glad you got to meet her, BroadwayBound!
I can't believe how good she looks.
What was your favorite number?
my favorite number by far was probably All That Jazz or the Dancing on the Kitchen Table

My mom, sister and I just got back from today's matinee. I am very glad we went. The theatre looked to be about 50%-60% full but its capacity is about 2700. The audience was very appreciative. We had front row seats right behind the conductor who thanked us for coming to the show and asked how we were enjoying it. Cincinnati is the first stop on the tour and the conductor that they had to rush to get everything ready.
I saw it on it's 2nd day in Cincinnati and the theatre was about 80% full.
All That Jazz was amazing, but my favorite number was Nowadays. You can't go wrong with Chita Rivera
I saw The Dancer's Life for the first time in Philly, and 3rd time overall, on Friday night. Sadly the theater was only 1/2 full, I can't imagine what it was like last night when the Eagles played NO Saints. On opening night in Philly, last Tuesday, a friend of mine went and said there were 4 of them at the stage door, and Chita invited them all backstage to stay warm while she was getting ready. She then signed and posed for them all.
Saw the show twice in NYC and Chita is by far the hottest 70ish year old woman I have ever met, not to mention gracious and kind.
WOW. I just saw her last show in Philly tonight. The audience was pretty full, and they were very responsive.
I saw the show last Jan. in NYC with Dick Van Dyke. She also told me that Dick wants to do the show again, and they probally will soon.
She is just incredible. The show had quite a few changes. No more "young Chita" - so I'm sure many are happy now that ATJ is performed by just Chita & ensemble.
They cut a few lines, shortened the parts about Rita Moreno and losing Anita.
Overall it was a great transfer.
But My God is she wonderful to her fans. There were Chita groupies tonight. and it was great. She came out in the Lobby to sign for all of us. And she was so calm, much less tense than she was last year with the crazy stage door when Dick was in the show.
Not to sound corny, but she really touched my life tonight. She signed my Spider Woman and Chicago CDS. and I told her I wish I could've seen Gwen Verdon live. and she looked at me and went "I wish you could've seen her honey. There was nothing like her. She was like a cloud on stage." And to top it all off, at the end she kept looking at me.. and she went "What's your name?" and I told her.. and she looked me straight in the face and said "You're very sweet." and I told her I hope to see her again soon, and she said she hopes for that too.
Then I started crying on the way out of the theatre.
