I heard he's really a great writer. Does anyone have any female monologues of his? I'm looking for one for an audition i'm doing and i'd really appreciate any help.
thanks.

His "Beyond Therapy" has a really wacky psychologist named Charlotte. In Scene 3 she has a number of sections of dialog that could be strung together for a monologue.
He also wrote "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You," and she has a number of funny monologues.
Hope this helps.

There is an anthology of six plays in print which is probably at any decent library - or at Barnes and Noble. It's called "Christopher Durang Explains It All for You" published by Grove Weidenfled NY. The plays are "The Nature and Purpose of the Universe," "'Dentity Crisis," "Titanic," "The Actor's Nightmare," "Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You," and "Beyond Therapy."
Can't do much else at this point. Sorry.

A great Durang play that has a number of great monologues in it is Desire, Desire, Desire. I'll see if I can find one on my computer.
Lightmycandle, you are thinking of Laughing Wild, but if you do a monologue from that play, DO NOT do the tuna fish monologue--WAY over done.
broadwaybaby--you should head to a library or bookstore and take a look at his stuff.

anyone know any other suitable monologues for a female that are not the 'Tuna' monologue?
Wanda's Visit has some good funny ones and so Does Desire, Desire, Desire.
sweetie darling--get thee to a library or book store and flip through his stuff and see if you like what you find. Then read the play. Then work on the monologue.
Actors have to been ready to roll up their sleeves and look for monologues--not ask people to do it for them. We don't know what material is best for you. Only you do.
Now, get to work! :)

There's a great dramatic monologue by Diane in Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All to You that I can PM you with if you want.

So... i just got back from the library looking for a Christopher Durang play/book of monologues/something
and NOTHING!!!!
my library sucks. the closest place that has one is 30 minutes away and i don't drive yet and my parents are doing house stuff and then going out to dinner. i hate nj! i wish i was in nyc! and... it's such a gorgeous day! i hope that tomorrow is like this so that i can go to the city!
if anyone can help, please do.
Durang, to me, was always like the guy who wrote plays to be performed by really bad high schools. I think he teaches at Julliard or something now, right? there's one called The Funeral Parlor, it's funny...bad... but funny. Like everything he writes....bad... but amusing.
