Ok, it's time to bring this hardly seen tv show to the Broadway stage.

For those of you not alive in the late 1970s, Cindy was a black musical based on Cinderella.

I only saw the show once, but one of my memories is of a song involving Cindy's father. The stepmother comes to realize his job is only a washroom attendant at the Plaza Hotel. There's a whole men's chorus number where they sing "He's the best, damn, men's washroom attendant in the history of the Plaza Hotel."

Maybe others can recall memories of the show and we can cobble together a script and get it produced!

Goth, I would have expected this PC-inspired reverse racism from so many others, but not you. Never you.

I'm writing a script for "My Mother The Black Four Door Sedan", but I don't care what color car gets the role. I'm accepting of all paints.

Goth - is this the tv movie with Charlaine Woodard as Cindy? I have very vague memories of this. I get it mixed up with Sparkle.

In all seriousness, I do remember watching this when I was really really little.

^^Yes, the one with Charlaine Woodard. And I think it was Nell Carter's first tv appearance.

I think it's only been shown once on tv, so we all have vague memories of it. Bring it out of the vault!!

If you were really really little in 1978, then the rest of us must have been just gleams in our father's eye.

I may have seen a rerun of this in the 80s. I remember a funny scene where one of the wicked stepsisters tries to make the slipper fit by greasing her foot with Vaseline or moisturizer. I don't remember any scene other than that.

I'm not sure how old you think I am, Goth, but I was 3 1/2 in 1978, the year Imdb says this aired.

No, she slept on the fire escape.

And if you saw it, you would remember it. It had men dancing in and out of toilet stalls singing "He's the best damn men's washroom attendant in the history of the Plaza Hotel"

Actually Cinderella was originally Chinese and has been portrayed as just about every color since then including blue or green in some children's book illustrations. I don't recall the story being about her ethnicity.
