Am I late on this?
Saw it tonight before The Producers, the Movie, which I had issues with but actually liked.
I believe they are using Jennifer Holiday's And I Am Telling You, and was wondering how they are getting away with that.
The Trailer is just music and some images of lights and then some Women and the stars are (as we knew) Jamie Fox, Beyonce Knols and Eddie Murphy.
So Effie is no longer the Star?
I am a little scared because the difference in age of these actors is significant.
please comment.....
it is a TEASER trailer.
They have JUST begun, nothing is actually edited yet. This is just out there to tell people that a movie is being made.
yes. you are late on this. the teaser trailer has been available to download on the film's official site for over a month already.
david geffen owns a significant portion of DREAMGIRLS he's the film's executive producer and was the major backing force for the original show. his own record label GEFFEN Records recorded the Original Broadway Cast Album. He owns rights to the original recordings and that's how they got to use Holliday's original recording of AITY in the film's teaser trailer.
What's the URL of the site?

as i believe it was mentioned before this teaser was made more than likely before jennifer hudson was cast. Its actually brilliant for what it is, a teaser made with no real vocals or any footage whatsoever
I saw the original and it made me weak in the knees
The staging Score and Book and performances were wonderful
So I Hope the Creative Team can make a Great Movie
But that trailer tells me nuttin
I do want it to be good
has the trailer been shown in Movie theatres for a while??

It's a teaser trailer for a film that doesn't come out for a year. It doesn't need to tell anyone anything.
I saw this trailer in a full theatre recently in Times Square. When it was over, half of the audience was snickering and laughing. I didn't understand that.
I hate to say this but they were probably thinking:
"Oh gawd, not another musical...!"
or "OMG, is this the trailer for American Idol: The Movie ? Oh . . . ok . . . thank God." *sniker, sniker*
