Lincoln Center is a non-profit theatre company.

Can anybody enlighten me on how non-profit companies do their jobs? I mean, Light in the Piazza did run for quite a bit. I'm sure they made more money than it was necessary to produce the show.

Non-Profit doesn't mean they CAN'T earn a profit...it means the organization must re-invest the profits it earns on the organization itself.

Non-profit theater companies get their money through the subscriber bases and corporate grants. The profits they make from the shows go back into the pot and are re-invested in the next shows.

And I believe, by the end of Piazza's run, it was being commercially produced. At least partially. Updated On: 3/24/08 at 03:48 PM
