Did anyone on the board see "Mame's" closing performance tonight in DC?
If so, please let us know how it was.

It was great seeing the rave "re-review" the Washington Post gave the show, particularly how beautifully Baranski grew into the role. She was marvelous when I saw her and I was glad to see she got the credit due her.

I saw the next-to-the-last performance; that is, the matinee on Sunday. The audience seemed very appreciative, laughing and applauding at lines, entrances, costumes, etc. It was sold out and there were some people at standing room. The audience gave Christine a standing "O"--very rare in Washington. There were also calls out to her and a few others, not exactly bravas, but you know what I mean, at the bows.
As I was leaving, I saw Eric Schaeffer going backstage.
I had seen the show on June 18, and I think it has only gotten sharper, with better comic timing, especially Christine. I still don't like the way "The Man in the Moon is A Lady" is staged, but that's a minor quibble.
I was at the final performance Sunday.
The orchestra was given a non standing, but very vocal and extra long ovation right after the the overture.
The show was great, full of energy, and there were some very touching moments as well.
What a shame it isn't going to NYC or extending.
