I have this one. The show will premier in Germany in march. In my opinion it is not worth the money. There are a lot of songs on it which were not in the movie. A lot of great moviesongs are not on cd. Some songs are destroyed because people speak over the music, some songs are the original versions of the movie and some are sung by the Australien cast more or less okay. For me it is a strange mix. CD 1 is about 35 minutes long and CD 2 is about 45 minutes long. Can't see it as a good show, in fact the both leading actors doesn't sing one song.

It makes me sad to hear that this is what's replacing Tanz der Vampire in Hamburg. =(

What happened to the version that workshopped about 4 years ago in NYC? I rememebr it was called the Frankie and Baby project becausethey would have had to pay $100,000 a week for the use of the title DIRTY DANCING.

This show closed in Melbourne yesterday after near six months of near sellout business and will continue to tour. I couldn't bring myself to see it as I can't stand that song Time of My Life. However, people I know that did see it said it was better than anticipated. As for the CD I don't know of anyone that has bought it, sorry.

the cd is not worth the money, but see the show if you have a chance for a laugh - not for seriously tight theater!

also here's a link to a post about this from a while ago

DIRTY DANCING POST

"...But Kungurtseva reels off multiple fouettes and the tape is stopped so she can take a bow. The Jester, an abomination introduced to Swan Lake in Soviet times, extorts applause from the audience. The cuts don't help the storytelling, the production is bare bones and they go for the '50s-style happy ending. The audience cheers like mad at the end. It's the Russian ballet, after all..."
