Disney's Next Musical!

No, I'm not talking about flying, hairy-chested men from vines, or mermaids that don't swim, but does anyone else think that Disney should do Mulan: The musical. I think if they are going to create another musical based on a movie, this one should be it!

no, i think disney did well with "aida" pretty much their only original musical idea.

But it doesn't look like they're creating new ideas soon, so if they MUST do musicals that are based on some of their movies, i think mulan would be a good one to do!

That is a thought, but it is not going to happen. They are attracting a good amount of people...all of their shows have been successful...and are still running from around 1994.

Hunchback would be an INCREDIBLE show on broadway, but I think Disney would be safer waiting to bring it to broadway until after Phantom (my favorite!) closes because the stories are pretty close plot-wise. And I just realized why Hunchback is my favorite disney movie...it must have something to do w/ Phantom being my favorite show...hm...anyways....I don't know how well Mermaid would do...and Tarzan's a little out there and cirque du solei esque....but Hunchback...I think, give'm 5 years and it could be incredible.

The Hunchback music is INCREDIBLE. Sung by a whole chorus would be breathtaking! Just thought I'd leave my opinion...

As dinsey Movies Go Mulan is really good but There arent a whole lot of songs in it. 5 that are sung by the charectors so it would be kinda boring. Granted they are good songs but there arent a lot of them. the Rest is all intrumentals.

If I were to Bring a disney show to broadway I would Consider, ALICE IN WONDERLAND, OLIVER AND CO (The animals in this could be really cool).,SLEEPING BEAUTY, The NIGHTMARE BEFORE X-MAS on stage. And I hope that they Bring MARRY POPPINS over soon. They should skip CHITTY CHITTY BANGBANG cause it is utter garbage though

I think that Dreamworks or Fox should pull a disney and go broadway. Id LOVE to See ANASTASIA, THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, or FIVEL on stage

As much as I love Lea Salonga and want to have B.D. Wong's babies...um....it's sad how they're the only ones we think of when picturing ethnically asian roles....

That's only because B.D. Wong was the voice of the main guy (Captain something or other) in the movie and Lea Salonga did the singing voice for Mulan. Though B.D. Wong didn't sing in it, right? I remember reading that Donny Osmond was the singing voice of the Captain guy.

I think Mulan would make a wonderful stage musical. Imagine the possibilities in staging! All that Chinese theatrical style, it could be really beautiful. I think the fact that there are only 5 songs in the movie allows more new music to be written for the stage musical.

I think Lea Salonga would be perfect as Mulan. Technically she's too old for the part, but she doesn't look like she's aged a day.

I'm with FabalaCohen - Nightmare before Christmas could be a knock-out on the stage, although maybe a full Disney production might blow it up bigger than it needs to be . . .

So if you love Hunchback you should try to get the German Cast Recording with the additional songs. It's a great recording.

The German production of Hunchback had a great book and score, but needs to be completely restaged if brought to Broadway. I can't see Mulan on stage at all. I liked the film, but they would need to a lot more music and the comedic bits in the film really fal flat. It would be best if they were cut altogether. The show I want to see on stage (after Little Mermaid) is Hercules. That score is begging to be belted to the rafters.
