Hey all,
This whole debate of whether or not HUNCHBACK, when/if it does move to Broadway, will have Disney's logo attached to it reminded me of another question I have had for years:
Why does Disney bill some shows as: "Disney" (Insert Title Here) and others as: "Disney Presents" (Insert Title Here).
For example, their current two shows are billed as Disney ALADDIN, and Disney Presents THE LION KING. I've never seen LK billed with just Disney like the rest of its shows. Out of all their shows, only LK and TARZAN (and technically POPPINS bc of CamMac - but it's irrelevant to this discussion) featured the "Disney presents" moniker.
Is it just negotiated language or what? This kind of inconsistency has always puzzled me.

The Disney *insert title* is just how they've branded their properties since 2010 whether it be a film like Cinderella or a musical like Aladdin, I think Lion King having been produced before 2010, they've just kept the old branding. There are exceptions like Shakespeare in Love which is a coproduction with Sonia Friedman where they are top producers but they'd don't use their logo because it's aimed at an older audience

Jonwo beat me to the punch. They have just went through a small rebranding phrase in recent years, thus the inconsistency. It was a superficial change... nothing more.

Yeah, I definitely get that. I'm very familiar with how their corporate branding works, it's just this inconsistency (which is something Disney is not known for) still existing that puzzles me.
But even before LK they used "Disney's" for BEAUTY and even later for MEMRAID - these have since been changed when the company opted to go for the more consistent "Disney" before everything.
Also, on MTI's website and marketing materials TARZAN is not billed as Disney's TARZAN, but rather as TARZAN: The Stage Musical based on the Disney film.
I just find it interesting that LK has never been updated to reflect that change.

Tarzan I guess is because the rights to the character belong to the Edgar Burrough Rice estate so I guess they cannot legally call it Disney's Tarzan
