Posted: 9/9/12 at 6:08pmAs they both get more recognizable with television and film (and depending on how soon they make it), I'd say chances are good they do the film version.

Posted: 9/9/12 at 6:48pmStone & Parker have both said they plan on doing a movie version, but not for about 5 years or so. They have their hands full with starting up the tour, then the Chicago production followed by the West End and then who knows what other productions will start up. Australia?? UK Tour?? European tour?? Las Vegas??

Posted: 9/9/12 at 6:58pmRannells and Gaad would not be believable 19 year olds on film.

Posted: 9/9/12 at 7:09pmI think Rannells and Gad will be fine. I mean, Kristin Chenoweth was a 5 year old on stage once, and she was great.

Posted: 9/9/12 at 7:27pmYou can practically do anything on the stage because it's more of a make believe art form, but the Film medium is more natural and audiences have a more realistic stand point with it. Cathy Rigby Is something quite magical on stage as a 12 year old boy, but do you think audiences would pay to see her in a film version?

"I mean, Kristin Chenoweth was a 5 year old on stage once, and she was great."
Exactly, she played a five year old on stage, surrounded by other adults who were also playing children. It's not as if she played one of the orphans in the TV remake of Annie.
And let's face it, based on the reaction of a lot of people just on this board it is not a guarantee that The New Normal is going to make Rannell's a household name. Not to mention we have no idea of when the film might be made.

The whole "30 year olds don't translate as 20 year olds on film" argument is definitely a valid one but please keep it in context to the project being discussed. Chenoweth is a perfect example since yes, she played a 5 year old on stage but if there was a film made of that show would you want to see real 5 year olds in it? No. That's not how it was written.
But as for MORMON, this is a Trey Parker and Matt Stone show. You know, the guys who make paper cutouts who curse and made a musical about Joseph Smith and warlords in Uganda. I think they'd be fine in the film.

If this girl
can play a teenager in many roles for almost twenty years, Andrew and Josh will be fine.

of course they will both come back to MORMON. They are the new Rapp/Pascal pair.
Thats mean of me... Rapp has always booked work on TV, in theatre, and in film.

I would bet against it, unless of course either of their shows tank, then I would imagine they would jump at the first chance to be involved again with BOM. But, if they were willing to drop almost guaranteed money with another (if my memory and math serves me correctly) 8 months on each of their new contract extensions that just began about 4 months before they left the show, I would doubt they would leave what the left BOM for to return to BOM.
That being said, a limited return, of lets say a few weeks or a month, in between seasons of their shows, is a possibility. Albeit, not a very likely one.

Posted: 9/10/12 at 6:00pmIt won't run FOREVER though. There is a saturation point, and I REALLY don't think that BOM will become the next Fantastiks, and Mousetrap.

I disagree and only time will truly tell but I think Andrew Ranell's show, ,The New Normal will be a big fat hit.
On my dog walks in Central Park, everyone was talking about it.
I enjoyed it a lot.
