I saw both parts last week and really do feel like it's one of the best things I've ever seen onstage. Since the show is sold out I won't have the chance to see it again so I'm wondering with the success it's having, what are the odds this could come back to Broadway?

It's one of the greatest things I've ever seen too. If they could work out an economically feasible limited run it would motivate people to not dilly dally and get their tickets quickly. Too often people say, "I so wanted to see that but won't be able to get back to NYC before the closing. I thought there was plenty of time,"

Ive not seen this production but the recent UK one was divine, its truly an amazing piece of theatre. I really hope it does move to Broadway.

I'm sure there are tons of great actors that could step into Louis, but Quinto is so amazing I'd hate for people to miss his performance. But I'm guessing he has a film and/or TV schedule...he starts filming the new Star Trek in July...

I don't think ticket sales were ever a problem for Angels in America. I think the problem is that the both plays have such long running times and cannot be cut and a lot of overtime has to be paid out. I think this reason never allowed for the plays to be profitable during the first Broadway run and they never recouped.

There are other posters here who can speak with more authority on the subject.

I would love for the current production to transfer for a commercial run. It is so incredible but I don't think it will be possible financially.

It can't be COMPLETELY sold out, can it? I've been meaning to go see it but haven't had the chance yet.

The crew costs and overtime involved with each performance would be nearly prohibitive. The "good" news is that except for the angel herself, nothing flies. Everything travels. This would help keep costs down a little bit.

As for being 'completely sold out', there was a long cancellation line on both Thursday and Sunday night. I have no idea how many people actually got in.

Don't tell the fire department, but there were a few people sitting in the aisles on the floor last night.

Going on past experience, the cancellation line at Signature is an almost surefire way to see the show. I've done it for THE TRIP TO BOUNTIFUL, LANDSCAPE OF THE BODY, all three Wilson plays and two-thirds of ORPHANS HOME CYCLE and have always gotten in.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Perhaps, if bedbugs can be located to spur it on.

Aisle steps are usually, basically the designated "cancellation line" seats....

Is there an Off-Broadway theater roomy enough to accommodate it? Could it stay Off-Broadway with evening performances with a 7:30 curtain?

We had an I'm assuming longer than usual final intermission in "Perestroika" and we didn't get out til about 11:40. We were tired, but it was a joyful kind of tired.

Is it possible that it might just extend where it is? Or do we know that is not going to happen?

I would love to see this and will not be in NYC while it is currently playing.

Kushner's The Illusion follows Angels at the Peter Norton Space in April, so it cannot extend indefinitely.

I think the reviews will definitely affect the possibility of a transfer- it's no great wonder the run is sold out in that space, given the play and the size of the house. But a run in a Broadway house is different. That being said, I would be very surprised if it doesn't transfer somewhere.
