Yup. Saw this earlier today.

Wiest is PERFECT casting!!

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Never saw this show, but I'm excited. I hope it fares better than some recent plays-to-screen transfers at the box office.

Who is going to play the John Gallagher, Jr. role?

A strange choice for John Cameron Mitchell.

Aaron Eckhart is perfect.

As long as John Cameron Mitchell doesn't screw it up (he shouldn't), this is shaping up to be quite he film.

The whole cast seems great, save for Kidman who used to be a fantastic actress but has turned in really overacted, robotic performances as of late. Maybe Mitchell will get something better from her.
I'm not familiar with the play, I assume Wiest is playing the Tyne Daly part but what is Tammy Blanchard's role like? I also wonder who will be playing John Gallagher Jr.'s part, would it be naive to hope that he's at least in the running?

Minus Kidman, I am horrifically excited. Wiest?! Eckhart?! Blanchard?! Talk about perfect casting. And a little John Cameron Mitchell to top it all off? Not so bad. I can't wait to see this.

ray, Blanchard is playing Izzy, the neurotic younger sister of Kidman's character.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Eckhart! PERFECT casting.

I adore Nicole Kidman, I'm not totally sold on her for this role though.

I love this cast! But I think Wiest is kind of a departure from the ballsy personality Daly gave to the role on Broadway.

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

Watch Bullets Over Broadway. You'll never doubt Wiest's ballsiness.

Cynthia Nixon should have been given the opportunity to reprise her role.

The only reason the movie is being made in the first place is because Nicole Kidman bought the rights so that her film company could produce it so that she could star in it.

It wouldn't have been made with Nixon attached.
