In the discussions on this board about bad audience behavior, the notion of entitlement seems a recurrent theme. From what we've seen in recent preview threads, it seems a problem among some posters in this newsgroup as well.
Those who attend the first preview are peppered with questions and demands. When these are not answered on the spot, frustration is expressed, and they are repeated again. And again, like a spoiled child repeatedly demanding a cookie. Remember when The Normal Heart opened? "How was Jim Parsons?," we were asked. No response. So again, "How was Jim Parsons?" "What about Jim Parsons?" I'm sure everyone here was praying for someone to provide him with the answer just to make him stop asking. It's as if the questioners are owed answers to their every possible question from the hardy souls who dutifully attend these performances. Well, they're not. And it's annoying. In The King and I thread, I offered a spoiler response about the boat effect just to put an end to the questions. To no thanks, I might add, which is also par for the course.
No one here has an obligation to go to a first preview to satisfy other people's curiosity, or to help them determine whether to see a show or not. We're theatregoers, not critics with deadlines. One poor poster here is regularly beset with questions as to where his review is. What, he doesn't get one night off? Well, at least he gets thanked much of the time when he does air his thoughts. Others get nothing for their time and effort. One person gets mostly abuse (but that person doesn't count anyway).
Did anyone ever think that someone might be tired after returning home from a show at midnight and then have to post comments here that might satisfy every possible query about the curtain, the song list, the orchestrations, the merchandise, the running time? And how is someone sitting in seat F 103 in the orchestra supposed to know if row L 6 orchestra offers a better sight line than row B 12 mezzanine?
I'd say be thankful for whatever information anyone is generous enough to give at all. And if your questions are not answered, and your desire to know is so great, then just go see the show yourself --- and be sure to let everyone know about it.

So basically you're unhappy with how the internet works.
And your only contribution to The King and I thread was to shoehorn in yet another scathing recrimination of Sondheim and anyone who enjoys his work.
How ironic that you and your lackey are the ones who (almost) ruined that thread and yet you have the chutzpah to complain about people asking relevant questions.

Of course. And no one is obligated to answer.

I DEMAND YOU POST YOUR REVIEW OF THE ICE CREAM SHOP THAT JUST OPENED NEXT TO THE BROADWAY THEATRE. YOU MUST GO THERE POST SHOW. AND TELL ME ABOUT EVERYTHING.
was the lady scooping ice cream white? dominican? how was her accent? did she seem to care???
were there a lot of flavors to choose from? CAN I SEE A LIST OF FLAVOR OPTIONS?!?!
What time should I arrive???? is there a long line? should i try a cone or a cup? is it better to SIT and eat ice cream, or walk around?
CAN SOMEONE SEND A PIC OF THE FRONT DOOR? I want to know what it looks like when you walk in!!
DO THE EMPLOYEES STAGE DOOR AFTER THEY CLOSE? Do they sign autographs?? give out interviews?!?!
some people can't experience broadway like we can.
some people want the crazy details. and some people are happy to give them.
you don't HAVE to read the boards you know. but clearly you're one of the crazies like the rest of us, so embrace your community, or quietly sit back and distance yourself. its your choice to get worked up or not...
people have learned to expect answers because SOMEONE in the multiverse will give it to them. it doesn't gotta be you. sit back, breathe, and live yo life.

A passing thoughts for After Eight: get a sense of humor.
"Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing."
--- William James
"A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road."
--- Henry Ward Beecher
"Imagination was given to man to compensate him for what he is not; a sense of humor to console him for what he is."
--- Francis Bacon
"If I had no sense of humor, I would long ago have committed suicide."
--- Mahatma Gandhi

Broheim Eight,
You go to a preview, then come home, decide to get on your computer, go to this website, log in, find the thread about the show, and post your opinion about these shows. But, you are bitching about people asking questions about said opinion?
Nah. You're being awfully rhadamanthine today!

Please. I invented this treat you mere mortals call... ice cream. And everyone around here should create a statue of me and put it on top of Central Park's Fountain for all the world to be amazed and in awe.
