You may have seen this Playbill.com article posted last week:

I just got back from the production and WOW!!!
If the amazing acting, great music, and outstanding writing isn't enough of a reason to go....you MUST BUY A TICKET TO FLY TO GREENSBORO TODAY to see this production BECAUSE of its set design, lighting design, costume design, and staging! It is the most innovative, unique, functional, original, and intricate designs I have EVER seen in a show.
But the NUMBER ONE reason why you should come see this show is to see four people dressed in full black. And I mean *full* black! Their faces and hands are covered in all black, and the only piece of costume they have are "Fosse" like hats (bowler hats?). They are NOT characters in the play. Instead, they come on stage and change the set. But it's NOT "scene changes." They are storytellers. They are dancers. They are actors. But they are not characters. For example, they picked up a chsaracter in the story and made her fly. Her costume was painted for blacklight, and because they were in full black, it gave the illusion she was flying, floating, spinning, etc. INNOVATIVE - AMAZING - INSPIRING - ORIGINAL.
This show changed the way I think about theatre and how theatre can be a form of storytelling. The way I am going to describe BROTHER WOLF is this: it is a play. A straight play. And this straight play also uses music, costumes, the set, storytellers in full black, and lighting design to enhance the story being told. This COULD be said about any play, but in other plays, they were merely a part of the play. In BROTHER WOLF, it told the story.
You'll just have to see it. It is AMAZING. I'm going to see it again. Probably two or three more times. This show has got to move to New York.

Yeah, Capn, I've seen the advertisements. Preston Lane wrote it, didn't he??
I probably won't be able to make it, but if it's as good as you say, then I hope it really does well.

Posted: 3/21/06 at 11:40amYes, Preston Lane wrote and directed it. In the Playbill, he mentions how he came up with the idea and why he did it. It was interesting. He said he found a book (I won't mention which one as it will ruin the story) misplaced at Barnes & Noble and thought to himself "You know, I never did read this," and bought it.
