Hey! I'm seeing Avenue Q in May and have been listening to the cast album to get familiar with the music. One thing puzzles me -in the "Fantasies Come True" number, how does Barret Foa balance between playing Rod and doing the Princeton dialogue in the middle? Thanks.

Whoever is playing the Bad Idea Bear #2 controls the puppet on the other side of the stage while Rod's side is blacked out and Barrett will say the lines.

Yes; in the souvenir program, there is a photo of Princeton & Kate from that sequence, and Jen Barnhart is puppeteering Princeton.
i LOVE Barret. he's my latest obsession. which is weird, considering im straight and all...

Generally, throughout the show, when someone has to voice two characters (when everyone is onstage, and during Outside Your Apartment, and Fantasies Come True and all that), Jennifer Barnhart manipulates one while the other does the voice. During Fantasies Come True, I watched John Tartaglia. He had his eyes on the Princeton puppet the entire time, and Jennifer had her eyes on John's mouth.

I love these parts in the show-like the Lucy/Kate scene at the Around-The-Clock Cafe (or whatever it's called). They're awesome. I wish I could be in Q...
So does Jen control Kate during "Special"?

I didn't say "never"...I said I wish I could be in Q. Probably not good enough for...Broadway, but hopefully by the time I'm old enough to play a part, it'll be in other places too. It's my current life goal to be in Q. haha. OK, it's not my 'life goal', but it'd be cool.
And yes, she does control her during Special. Even though she doesn't do much... In the scene after, Jen and Steph switch puppets. It's a really cool scene in my opinion.
Kate gets a "look" of totally disgust during Special

I wouldn't know. My rear view seats kinda got in the way...haha
Yes, Jen controls Kate.
And then they (Jen and Stephanie) switch and Jen controls Lucy.
The best is when Lucy and Kate fight - it's Jen and Stephanie alone onstage and Stephanie does all the talking.
I think the transitions that Jen and Steph make from puppet to puppet are phenomenal. They don't even stop walking, they just hand off and keep on going.
