So this article got me thinking- what ever happened to Pippin's rights that Miramax bought. Are they ever gonna do anything with it?

Lots of rights get purchased...and then nothing happens. The same happens with books -- the filming option gets purchased -- often to keep another studio from the possibility.

REALLY sucks for newer authors -- as they think that the option is the same as a green light.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

There is a once-famous (maybe it still is) one-act called Lone Star by James McClure. It used to be done at every college in the nation back in the 70s-80s. McClure sold the film/television rights over and over and over again; he grew to relish the absurd alterations producers would request, knowing they would never work, the option would be dropped, and he would be free to market his piece again. He lived off a single one-act for years.
