First Lady Suite: Over Texas

20 minutes of this! Argh! Is anyone else listening to BWW Radio... This is the first time, I'm considering stopping the stream. Some of it is very good. Some of it is very bad.

Welcome to the wonderful world of LaChiusa :)

I have very mixed reactions to First Lady Suite. "Over Texas" is definitely my least favorite piece, but I get a kind of a kick out of "Where's Mamie?", which is an intentional "Where's Lucy?" treatment of Mrs. Eisenhower. There are also a few very powerful moments in "Eleanor Sleeps Here". Other than that, I quite like the opening number (which is very similar to some of the chorus music in his "Marie Christine"), but the rest is... experimental. I would gladly suggest that the recording is not for people who are not already fans of LaChiusa's work, and certainly not for people who do not enjoy freeform songwriting or recitatives, as much of First Lady Suite is.

And, of course, you know the drill: if you don't like a tune, vote appropriately. The scheduling will generally reflect collective opinion, though you'll still always hear it, once in a while.

I enjoy much of First Lady Suite.
I just was bleeding from the ears with Over Texas.
It doesn't help that it's 20 minutes.
You can be assured that I voted... I love the abilty to provide feedback.

Just a technical question while you're here: Is the user ID logged with the vote?

Bravo...

I seem to notice some nice performance on the stream information. We're getting the titles before the song starts to play now...

Have you been toiling in the trenches, or has my connection gotten better?
