I found this clip on youtube.com . This is of the entire cast performing Buenos Aires on Children in Need day. Elena sounds, looks, dances and acts great along with the rest of the cast. I can't wait till this show comes back to the Great White Way.
Since I can't post a youtube address on here go the sight and search for: Evita CiN
I guareentee you it will be worth your time.

When will this CD be released in the States!
Its already available in the states and on Amazon. I'm disappointed in the recording because it is so incomplete and the temps are so much slower than what was heard in the theatre. Elena Roger is fierce though - she was even better live. We can only wish they'll do a full length recording when it transfers next season to NYC.
Already is, and just go to amazon.com and search Evita. It was one of the first items that came up. I've been listening to it everyday since I got it in August. Its a really great cast album.
Was Matt Rawle a better experience live? Because I can barely listen to him on the recording. I love Elena though, and the new orchestrations. But yeah, tempos are strange
I thought Matt Rawle was kind of a non entity live. He wasn't very charismatic, but then, one of the flaws of this production is that it is so "pro Eva" that they have greatly diminished Che's impact as a foe.
His Manchester accent was kind of odd though. Everyone was making a big deal out of Roger's accent and Rawle's was much worse IMO.

I totally agree about his accent (based on the recording alone). I just think his tone is horrible -- so nasally and unsupported.

Talk about star quality! Elena Roger is amazing. That CiN stage looks like a giant pumpkin though.

He certainly didn't sound so nasal in Martin Guerre. Who told him that sounded good? Unless they were going for the "Ché with a Cold" angle.

It's on iTunes as well, just downloaded it.
The EVITA official website has some audio and video clips from the production. I like the CD, but was not impressed with Matt Rawle as Che, but it is still worth it to buy. Elena and Phillip Quast are good. Plus it has new orchestrations.

didn't like the show at all, got some gd moments, but mostly it's just boring
I agree about Matt. He has a tendency to sing in a high voice, in the same way as Mandy Patinkin. I always preferred a Che with a deeper voice, like David Essex, Colm Wilkinson or Antonio Banderas.
Elena is great, though, she blew me in the theatre, although I missed Patti in some numbers. Some additions, like "You must love me" and the second verse of "Lament" work really well, but some omissions, like the orchestral solo in 'I'd be surprisingly good for you', are unnecessary.
I think the pacing of the show should slow down a bit, everything is happening a bit to fast and there was even no time for an applause after "Don't cry for me Argentina."

There has never been an applause break after "Don't Cry for Me Argentina"...
Agreed about Martin Guerre, Lizzy. I had to triple-check to make sure it was the same person. Someone must have told him that "nasally" equals "edgy and angry."
There wasn't? Well, I always felt a showstopper like that deserves one.
Martin Guerre -- I also could not believe it is the same voice. Anyway, his take on "And the money kept rolling in" was excellent, while in "Oh what a circus" I was not so impressed. I wonder what's his understudy like.
