I found this clip and thought I'd share it here:
Helen Is Always Willing

Thank you, Mr. Nowak! As you know from the other thread, the score is a favorite of mine. I saw a York Theatre production in the early 1980s, but at the time I had read neither the ILIAD nor the ODYSSEY, so the parallels were mostly lost on me.
And here is the Act I finale:

Do you know, Mr. Nowak, was this taped for broadcast or merely for archival purposes? The TV direction seems very clumsy and static.

Thanks for the clip! It's such a great score and it's a shame it's so rarely performed on a large scale. It's an interesting take on a clasic as well.
I do believe it was broadcast. The castalbums.org lising reads "A modestly staged, abridged version presented on the television program 'Camera 3' (WCBS): Act One on October 2, 1977; Act Two on October 9, 1977. Hosted by Margaret Whiting."

The DVD is only an hour long, so it, too, must be heavily edited.
Coincidentally, I know many members of the cast personally. I'll have to try to find a copy.
The clips on You Tube are exquisitely sung--better than the OBC, if truth be told.
Thanks again for your help in discovering this.

The clips here are of two different productions. "Helen Is Always Willing" is from the Camera Three broadcast, but the Act One Finale clip is taken from the complete taping of the Evanston, IL, production in the 1990s, which was complete and used the original scene designs by the Eckarts. The Moross family has the entire production on video.

^^^^Ah, that makes sense. I wondered why the boys in "Helen..." were all dressed in disco jumpsuits. It's hard to tell in the finale, but that doesn't seem to be the dress for that production.
It comes from a short lived, arts magazine type show from the late '70s called Camera 3. It also did one-hour abridgments of "Flora, the Red Menace" with Lenora Nemetz and "The Grass Harp" with Carol Brice of the original cast. Unlike the other two shows, their "Golden Apple" in relatively modern dress.
If I ever win the Lotto, I'm going to fund a complete recording of the score.
I love the Lenora Nemetz "Flora..."

Hello, this is my first post, and I was led here because I was trying to find information on this musical . I actually picked up the CBS Umatic tape Camera Three recordings of 'The Golden Apple' sent from George Dessart to Gen Accas.
I work with an estate picker and we're putting them up for auction. Some of the proceeds will go to the Autism Speaks donation fund. Hopefully someone here knows what to do with them. They might have additional unseen footage, who knows?
The auction link is below, if it doesn't show up, the item id is # 321690248450
Thank you,
