Gavin Creel Out of Hair Tonight and Tomorrow (7/10)?

It sounds like Gavin Creel is out of tonight's show according to his Twitter and most likely tomorrow. Who covered for him tonight, and how was he? I realize tonight's show is not over yet, but if someone can comment after, I am curious.

Oops, I just saw this mentioned in the Hair thread. Well, if anyone can post any reviews of the understudy here, that would be great.

I am pretty sure it has been Jay. I saw Jay's 2nd performance back in March, and he was fantastic. The thing that I was really impressed with was his voice.....wonderful singer that I was not really expecting. I can only guess that he has gotten better.

I would also like to hear some reviews from tonight.

I saw Jay on the 5TH. He was great! He makes Claude his own and I actually liked some of the choices he made.
He sings wonderfully and has a nice almost Berger mocking delivery to some of his lines.

I saw Jay on the 5th as well. I was actually underwhelmed by the show as a whole. My least favorite performance out of the 7 times I've now seen it. The band sounded BAD and the energy was lacking a lot. But Jay was good. Not Gavin by any means, but good. His acting is a little too "musical theatre"y, in my opinion. I saw him in FLOYD COLLINS at NYU and adored him and his performance. But he was just okay here. His voice, on the other hand, is fantastic. His "Manchester, England" was a little rough, but he picked up. And he riffs a little too often. And what is up with his wig in the end?! He looked like Woody from "Toy Story." I'm just being nitpicky. He was good, but I missed Gavin QUITE a bit. Overall, the July 5th performance as a whole was SO not worth the $77 I paid. Would've been worth the $25 I could've paid if I hadn't stupidly tried the WICKED lotto instead.

(Note: Theo Stockman and Saycon Sengbloh were out and Josh Lamon and Chasten Harmon were on for them, with Nicole Lewis subbing for Lincoln. It's my belief that much of the amazingness of this production rests on the ACTUAL cast, therefore. I've been let down by every swing I've seen.)

I saw jay for the 3rd time yesterday and I loved him. poor gavin I hope this isn't something serious. obviously he's not gavin but I thought his singing was great and his acting was fine. the only thing that seemed a little weird was that he seemed really short compared to will swenson.

I saw it on 6/27 at the Mat and Saycon was on for Sasha as Dionne and Nicole Lewis was on for Abe Lincoln. I loved Saycon a LOT actually, but I was VERY underwhelmed with Nicole's Abe. VERY.

Theo's going to be out for awhile. He's working on another show out of town for two or three months. August--Oct. I have no info on what or where.

Oh, booo! I love Theo. He's freaking adorable and always looks like he gives 800% on stage. Plus, he's really sweet and liked my tattoo. LOL

Hope the other show goes well for him though.

I'm a little bummed about that too...He really got my attention the last time Isaw the show...and he was an absolute darling after the show.

Theo is amazing and reading about his new show has me both happy for him and disappointed for me cuz I'm planning a trip for a Hair-athon in September and it won't be the same without Theo. He's the sweetest at stage door and his performance is just amazing. I loved the show, but he made me fall in love with it even more. It just won't be the same and most likely not coming back to the city til April after this September. I'm hoping that most of the cast will still be there

Saw the show in June and actually found Theo a little distracting. Is he directed to be that showy and over the top or is it just his natural enthusiasm? Obviously talented, but kinda look at me, look at me.

I saw Jay's first performance back in March and thought he was brilliant (I actually prefer his Claude to Gavin Creel's, somewhat). I can only imagine he's gotten better.
