So I plan on sending out letters and envelopes to theaters to get signed playbill and such.
What do I need to do?

The things you need to send are the playbill you want signed, and a self addressed, stamped envelope (SASE) that is big enough for the playbill to come back in. Put those items and a letter in another envelope addressed to the theater. I usually use two envelopes that are the same size and fold the SASE to fit in the other envelope.
